Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I’ve always been fascinated by how things work, often taking apart electronics and appliances to understand their inner mechanisms. This curiosity naturally led me to careers in construction and manufacturing. In these industries, I repeatedly encountered a common challenge: the maintenance of hoses and cables. Whether it was the air hoses used by mechanics, the garden hoses of landscapers, or the cables for welders, I noticed a significant need for a more efficient and less wasteful solution for their upkeep.
This reoccurring problem sparked an idea. My initial prototype was a simple PVC tee cut in half, but my passion for finding a better way led me to invest in a 3D printer. After countless iterations and refinements, we developed our current model.
We officially launched in the summer of 2024 and have been adapting to the market ever since. Today, our primary clients are professionals in the audio, visual, and lighting industries. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our product, through their work, has played a part in lighting stages and producing films all over the world.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business, like any major undertaking, came with its share of challenges. The initial goal was to create a better future for my family, but I knew that I also had to invest in my own growth to make that happen. Around the same time I began developing the concept for KleanGrip, I enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Organizational Leadership. I was determined to improve myself regardless, and I used what I was learning in school as a roadmap for building the business.
One of the biggest hurdles was the lack of capital. With money being tight, hiring freelancers for skilled tasks like design or marketing simply wasn’t an option. This financial constraint forced me to become a self-taught amature in many different areas. I spent countless hours learning how to use CAD software for product design, Photoshop for marketing materials, and various social media platforms to build our brand from the ground up. Each step of the way, I had to research and learn every single detail, turning every challenge into a chance to acquire a new skill.

It’s not much but it doesn’t cost us anything and we get to support another organization’s growth.
We also offer customization options for company logos or lettering. We have done custom projects for employee appreciation, private events, and trade-show giveaways.

What I first read after I decided to start my business was, “Patents, Copyrights, and Trademarks for Dummies” to make sure I started off protected. What really inspired me to take the deep dive into the business world was “How To Become a Rainmaker, CEO, and a Great Boss” by Jeffery J. Fox. I continue my business education with books like “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries and Steven Carlson’s “LLC Beginner’s Guide” My new favorite read is “The Entrepreneurial Incubator: Secrets to Getting your Invention from Mind to Market” by Dennis Shaver.
