Today we’d like to introduce you to Virginia Ankley-Bell.
Hi Virginia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I like to say my journey started long before Bell Health & Wellness ever existed. I was raised on holistic living – homeopathy, no artificial preservatives, no processed foods, grass-fed beef on the table, and a garden in the backyard that kept us busy all summer canning vegetables. That upbringing taught me that the body thrives when you give it what it needs and avoid what drags it down.
Fast-forward to adulthood: I built a successful career in hospital administration, managing multiple healthcare sites. I loved being part of a system that cared for people, but I also saw the gaps – so many people were surviving, not thriving. That realization sent me on a new path. I went back to school, became a Doctor of Natural Medicine, and opened a large, thriving wellness center in East Tennessee. It grew into a collaborative community of providers; a Biofeedback specialist, a doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine, a nutritionist, a lymphatic (LET) technician, reflexology, foot detox, a Trigger Point Therapist, and a Stretch Therapist – all working under one roof. Together, we created a true community of care where people could receive comprehensive, integrative support all in one place.
When my husband and I relocated to Texas for his job, I knew I couldn’t leave that dream behind. Luckily, we had family here and our cousin was generous enough to allow me to start over in his Chiropractic office, Advanced Relief Chiropractic. I started Bell Health & Wellness to give people in this community a place where they feel heard, supported, and empowered to support their body’s ability to regenerate and restore balance.
And honestly, my dreams for this area are so big I can hardly contain them. I want to create another full holistic wellness center here, a place that brings together the best of natural health under one roof and becomes a true hub for transformation. This isn’t just a business for me – it’s my mission, my passion, and the way I get to pour into this community every single day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Transitioning from conventional medicine to natural medicine was one of the hardest and most rewarding steps of my life. I spent nearly 20 years working in hospital administration and managing multiple healthcare sites, and I have so much respect for that system. I saw firsthand how dedicated doctors and nurses are, but I also saw how many people were falling through the cracks, getting temporary relief instead of lasting solutions. There isn’t enough time for doctors to spend with their patients because insurance dictates / hospital systems only allow for 15-30 minutes per patient on average.
That is what inspired me to move into natural medicine. My goal was never to compete with conventional care but to fill in the gaps. I do not replace a medical doctor. Instead, I support what they do. I love collaborating with my clients’ physicians whenever possible because when we work together, we get a full picture and give people a better chance at feeling like themselves again. It also gives their doctor piece of mind they aren’t buying supplements and teas off infomercials and taking supplements they should not be. I can provide the best quality supplements from professional grade companies, and I make my herbal teas from premium ingredients.
One of my biggest personal struggles along the way was working full-time, raising children, and going to school for a total of nine years. It required so much dedication and sacrifice, and there were many moments when I felt guilty for being present but not fully present with my family. But something amazing came out of it -my children watched me work hard, and they told me how proud it made them. It showed them what good work ethic is, and that you really can do anything you set your mind to.
Now, when I host events and my children hear clients share how much natural medicine has supported their ability to transform their lives, they see that all of those late nights and weekends of studying, and sacrifice were not wasted. They see that what I do is meaningful and impactful.
A current challenge is that insurance does not always cover the type of services I provide, and that can hold people back from getting started. I dream of a day when natural practitioners and conventional doctors work side by side under the same roof, sharing information and supporting patients as a team. This is not a competition. It is a commitment to use every possible tool and every approach so that our clients can be successful, vibrant, and well.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bell Health & Wellness is more than just a wellness practice. It is a place where people come to feel heard, find clarity, and take steps toward feeling like themselves again. We specialize in looking at the whole person: mind, body, and lifestyle, and we focus on helping clients understand why they feel the way they do so they can take meaningful steps forward.
I offer a wide range of services that support the body’s natural ability to regenerate and restore balance. Some of our most loved services include ionic foot detox baths, red light therapy, PEMF mat sessions, and Dolphin Neurostim microcurrent treatments. Microcurrent is one of my favorites because it can support pain relief, reduce inflammation, release scar tissue, help regulate the nervous system, help reduce the effects of traumatic brain injury and concussions, and even support emotional well-being. I am currently completing advanced training in pelvic floor treatments using microcurrent, which will be a game-changer for women’s health and core stability. If they would like to learn more about any of these I have details on my website.
I am also known for deep diving into functional lab testing. I regularly review GI-MAP stool tests, DUTCH hormone panels, and other advanced labs, then create personalized wellness plans that may include targeted supplementation, lifestyle strategies, and nutrition support. I am currently completing a certification in Genetic Nutrition, which will allow me to customize recommendations even more based on someone’s unique genetic blueprint.
What sets Bell Health & Wellness apart is our commitment to connection and collaboration. I do not just give someone a plan and send them on their way. I walk with them through the process, help them understand what is happening in their body, and adjust as we go. I collaborate with whomever the client would like me to — medical doctors, nutritionists, massage therapists, lymphatic enhancement therapy (LET) specialists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, reflexologists, and so many more. I believe the best outcomes happen when everyone on a client’s care team is working together toward the same goal.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the fact that we have created a space where people feel safe, supported, and empowered. When I host events and my clients share their stories of how much natural medicine has transformed their energy, digestion, mood, and quality of life, it confirms that this work matters.
I want your readers to know that Bell Health & Wellness is a place where they will be heard, where their concerns are taken seriously, and where they will be supported with compassion and the most up-to-date, innovative tools available. Whether someone is struggling with gut issues, hormone imbalance, chronic stress, pain, or simply wants to feel more vibrant, there is a place for them here.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
What I would love your readers to know is that there is hope. So many people come to me feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or like they have tried everything and nothing has worked. They just want answers and a path forward. My message is that it is never too late to make changes that can improve the way you feel.
I also want people to know that you do not have to do this alone. Whether someone is struggling with gut issues, hormone imbalance, chronic pain, stress, or just wants to feel more vibrant and energized, there are natural and supportive ways to move forward.
My heart for this community is so big. I truly want Bell Health & Wellness to be a place where people feel safe, seen, and supported — where they can take that first step toward restoring balance and feeling good in their own skin again. And my dream is to keep growing so that one day we have a full holistic wellness center here, where conventional doctors and natural practitioners work side by side for the good of the community.
So if you are reading this and thinking, ‘Maybe that is what I need,’ I would love to meet you. Sometimes the hardest part is just taking that first step, and we are here to walk alongside you through the process.
