Daily Inspiration: Meet Maria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The story of Encanto Market & Cocina is one of a community-oriented Mexican food + grocery hybrid, serving both as a cultural hub and practical resource in their neighborhood. Our identity leans heavily on authenticity, family ownership, and blending everyday grocery with cooked food and treats such as homemade ice cream and Mexican Paletas.

We started with a vision and we are so proud of the reputation Encanto has established with our customers and ratings from Google and Yelp.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any new business, we have had our growing plains. These include learning how to reduce turn staff turnover and preparing for when business is slow. The cost of goods has also been a challenge we have navigated. We have to adjust our prices to be able to be profitable.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are proud of some of our staple products such as our ice cream and paletas. We have experiment with different flavors and combinations of flavors.

Our barbacoa and menudo also products that we have refined to the point where people are traveling across town to have.

How do you think about happiness?
Being at Encanto makes me happy. To see the vision can true and to see the joy and nostalgia Encanto brings our customers makes my hear smile. We are so proud of what Encanto has become in this community.
