Today we’d like to introduce you to JUNG PARK.
JUNG, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jung Park. Me and my husband started this Tailor shop on 2016. Before, we were running a dry cleaning and alteration shop in South Dallas. My husband got diagnosed with cancer on 2014, we decided to close out drycleaning business and opened up a tailor shop. He passed away 2016 right after we opened this business. We didn’t have much money at that time, so we were pretty much starting from scratch. When we opened this store, our sales were pretty much zero. I worked from 7 in the morning until 10 or 11 at night, Monday through Saturday. I tried to work hard and honest for my customers. I am a Christian. I try to live as a Christian every day.
Because of God’s grace my business is getting better.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were many challenges. At first, I had to handle everything on my own, and sometimes employees suddenly couldn’t come to work. I even stayed up all night to finish customers’ clothes on time. When I had to close my shop during COVID, it was a very frightening time. Besides that, there were countless other difficulties.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I always try to do whatever my customers want. But sometimes, my creativity has limits when it comes to understanding their wishes. The hardest part is persuading them when they ask for something impossible. Still, when I reach an agreement through conversation and meet their needs—and when they are happy and satisfied—I feel the greatest pride in myself.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t take risks. I make compromises, yes, but never with a customer’s clothes. If something can’t be done, I tell them honestly.
