Today we’d like to introduce you to David Jackson.
Hi David, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started working with a construction company when I was 13 years old roofing houses, and all types of exterior work. Continued later when my father and I started buying and selling houses when I was 19 and I was in charge of making sure that the houses were remodeled Correctly, efficiently and within budget. In 2008 I went out on my own and started with simple exterior work like fences, decks and pergola. Overtime I started picking up cruise to subcontract to like masonry, concrete, framing. After a few years, I started getting request for interior work, including flooring and painting, counters, Tile Work, general remodeling request. Originally, I just referred other people that I knew, but after a while, I started GC in the project to make sure that everything went smooth and correctly. In 2009 I started hiring my own staff to work on projects and at this point I have nine full-time employees and still use six or seven cruise as subcontractors.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it is definitely not been a smooth ride, definitely some bumps on the road. Challenges are always hiring good workers, and communication with customers when it comes to making sure that the job is done, timely, and cleanly and within budget and exactly how they want Can be a challenge. Some customers are absolutely awesome and there are always one or two per year that are a real challenge, cause a lot of stress and anxiety, but we always try to get to the end without a getting ugly.
As you know, we’re big fans of Hg Remodeling. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We work primarily in residential remodeling and additions. We specialize in making sure the project goes smoothly from demolition to completion. I’m known for being on the job daily and having a great relationship with my customers and employees. I’m most proud of being able to solve any problem. Problems always come up, I try and make sure we can find a solution and take care of it quickly and without causing major issues.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Ive always been a very calm person and very active with sports and family. Ive always been an outdoor enthusiast, I love most sports, I love the mountains, traveling around the world and trying new food.
