Today we’d like to introduce you to Amariss Feemster.
Hi Amariss, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Options Real Estate was founded by my dad, Monte Anderson, in 1991. Almost seven years ago, I made the decision to join the family business. I started out on the brokerage side, working directly with leasing and sales and learning the business from the ground up.
As time went on, I focused on learning every part of the business — from accounting and property management to development, operations, and human resources. That path has led me into my current role as Executive Vice President, where I help oversee the company’s big-picture vision while still staying actively involved in real estate deals myself.
What makes this journey even more meaningful is that my daughter has now joined us as well. I truly enjoy being able to guide and mentor her along the way, just as my dad has mentored me. For me, this business isn’t just about real estate — it’s about family, relationships, and creating places where people and businesses can thrive.
Looking ahead, I’m committed to helping take Options Real Estate to new levels of growth and success, while keeping true to the original intent my dad had when he first started the company. I’m also working toward earning my broker’s license, which I see as an important step in continuing my growth and strengthening the future of our company.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth ride, but I see the challenges as part of what’s shaped me as a leader. One of the biggest has been balancing the responsibilities of a demanding role at Options with being fully present for my family at home. My kids and my husband will always be a priority in my life, and juggling their activities, our household, and my role at work has stretched me. But it’s also taught me how to prioritize, stay organized, and give myself grace when things aren’t perfect.
Another challenge has been stepping into leadership. Moving from being “one of the team” to being responsible for guiding and supporting the team is a big shift. I’m constantly learning how to balance accountability with encouragement and how to lead in a way that brings out the best in others. It’s an ongoing process, and I try to focus less on being perfect and more on continuing to grow.
And of course, working with family brings both blessings and difficulties. The lines between personal and professional life can blur, and it requires intentional communication and boundaries. But at the same time, it’s also one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. Being able to share this business with my dad and now mentor my daughter makes every challenge worthwhile.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Options Real Estate Investments, Inc.?
Options Real Estate is a family-owned, full-service commercial real estate company that’s been serving southern Dallas County and northern Ellis County since 1991.
We specialize in brokerage, development, and property management, but what truly sets us apart is our focus on people. We’re known for working closely with first-time business owners and entrepreneurs, helping them bring their vision to life and giving them the support they need to succeed.
What we’re most proud of as a brand is the trust and relationships we’ve built over more than three decades. Our mission is to better our communities through the built environment, and we believe that strong, lasting partnerships are at the heart of that. When you work with Options, you’re not just working with a real estate company — you’re working with a team that is personally invested in your long-term success.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about me is that before I joined Options Real Estate, I worked in education, specifically with kids with special needs. I also spent several years as an assistant coach for a special needs cheer team, which was such a meaningful experience for me. I’ve always loved kids and being in roles where I can support and encourage them.
On a personal note, I’m also a big animal lover — I foster dogs and truly never meet an animal I don’t want to love on. It’s a part of who I am that balances out the fast pace of real estate and keeps me grounded.
