Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Hanson.
Hi Heather, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have worked as an Executive Assistant and in accounting for over 30 years. In 2020 when COVID hit, I needed to be able to be at home with my young daughter who has COPD, but still bring in an income. I discovered Virtual Assistance Service and started my business. As time went on, I found that I was doing more accounting services for clients when they found out that was something additional that I offered. I have slowly grown my business and have niched down to offering bookkeeping services and Fractional CFO services for the businesses that I serve. I love working with small business owners. I feel that the financial side of the business is often a side that is pushed off, and takes alot of the owners time. I love being able to take that off of their plates so that they can focus on growing their business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. When I got divorced in early 2021, I had to go back to work full time to support me and my 3 kids. I kind of ended up putting the business on the back burner for a few years. I have been fortunate enough to be able to return to my business full time for almost a year now and to serve so many small business owners.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Hanson Ledgers, I help women entrepreneurs take their financial books from chaos to clarity. My work goes beyond simply “doing the books”—I specialize in bookkeeping, QuickBooks cleanups, and creating easy-to-follow financial systems that take the stress and mystery out of numbers. I work with business owners who are incredible at what they do, but often feel frustrated or overwhelmed when it comes to their finances. My role is to be their trusted guide—to clean up, organize, and translate their numbers into something they can actually use to make smarter decisions.
I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve seen in my clients. Many come to me embarrassed, worried, or simply unsure about where their business stands financially. Watching them go from avoiding their books to confidently understanding their financials is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I’ve had clients tell me they finally feel in control for the first time—that they know how to pay themselves, how to prepare for taxes, and how to grow their business with confidence. To me, that’s success: giving women business owners peace of mind and freedom to focus on what they love.
What sets me apart is the way I approach bookkeeping. I don’t believe numbers should feel scary or complicated. I bring a fun, approachable, and down-to-earth style to financial management. My clients know me as someone who explains things in plain English, who makes the process simple, and who’s there to support them as a partner—not just as someone who hands them reports at the end of the month. Beyond bookkeeping, I also help streamline business processes and optimize systems, so my clients aren’t just financially organized, but operationally stronger too.
Hanson Ledgers isn’t just about balancing books—it’s about empowering women business owners with the clarity, confidence, and tools they need to grow. That’s what I’m known for, and that’s what makes my work so meaningful.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Arlington, TX:
I love that Arlington has the perfect mix of big-city opportunities and a close-knit, community feel. It’s right in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth, which means easy access to everything, but it still feels like its own vibrant city. The small business community here is strong and supportive, and I’ve met so many incredible women entrepreneurs through local networking groups and events. Plus, Arlington has a fun side—there’s always something happening, whether it’s a game, live music, or family-friendly activities.
What I like least about Arlington, TX:
If I had to choose, I’d say the traffic can be tough, especially with all the growth the city has experienced. Getting across town during busy hours can be a challenge! But honestly, that’s just part of living in a growing, thriving area, and the benefits of being here far outweigh the drawbacks.
