An Inspired Chat with Jalen Terry of Dallas

Jalen Terry shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jalen, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
These are gettin more repetitive because of my routine nowadays. I wake up at 6:30 am get my daughter ready for school, leave by 7:30 am, then i head back to my gym for a workout. I like to get all of my morning cleaning, working out and prep done by 8:45 am so i can proceed to rot on my computer for the next 10 plus hours 🙂

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jalen Terry, I am the Owner & Director at Fambofilms Media Agency.

Something interesting: I was born and raised in Alaska
Something special: I have a beautiful daughter
Something unique: I am a retired professional basketball player (6’7)

I started “Fambo” in a study session my sophomore year of college with my group of friends. Faithful And Motivated Beyond Oneself. It was lingo synonymous to “Homie”, “Fam”, and its been attached ever since.

Currently working on a TON, however i am posting and promoting projects that i want to do more of in the soon future. I am expanding my reach in the community be doing creative panels, consulting and just overall more engagement with those who care to learn more.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed id be in the NBA at 30 haha.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I was homeless in between Vegas, Sacramento, & Los Angeles, looking for ANY job or break. I was 25, COVID was a pandemic and it seemed hopeless. There was nothing else i wanted to do, This was plan A 1.1. (Basketball was Plan A… but COVID)

I prayed to God to give me one chance, and that day came early March of 2021 when i moved to Los Angeles and got my big break. The network of people i gained, by working with a pure heart, wanting to provide a genuine service and all while being a decent human in the process is what i learned and still implement today.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
No matter how long i have on this earth i will preach and worship my King in Heaven Jesus Christ. My work is an extension of my heart and my true passion; that is to be a disciple and a light for Him. Whether it is/was sports, my work, my community i always emphasize i would be nothing and have nothing (truly) without my savior. The fulfillment and sense of purpose that hes placed on me to do all things beyond myself is my new FIRE. That is why i am FAITHFUL AND MOTIVATED BEYOND ONESELF.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I pray that people will see how much i care for others and want to build others up. I am strong willed, stubborn, but im also caring and compassionate. I love seeing others win and helping them get there. I hope to leave an imprint on everyone i meet. I want them to feel seen, heard, poured into. Hopefully people are inspired, see a small reflection of Christ when they see me and want to be a better version of themselves after being around me.
