Donna Fisher shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Donna , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What battle are you avoiding?
“One example that comes to mind is I need to start developing my FOGA trademark teaching program. At first, the this task felt enormous and almost impossible to tackle, which made it easy to delay getting started. But I recognize that avoiding this only makes it more daunting. Saying it out load makes me what to get started ASAP!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“My name is Donna Fisher, and I’m the owner of FBH Wellness. What began as a one-woman continuing education program to help teachers stay up to date on their certifications has grown into something much bigger. Over time, it evolved into a brick-and-mortar Pilates studio, and eventually transformed into a full Wellness Center — a true one-stop wellness shop.
Our growth reflects both my personal journey and a passion for creating a space where movement, education, and overall well-being come together under one roof. FBH Wellness is more than just a studio — it’s a community that supports people in every stage of their wellness journey.”
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
“One moment that really stands out is when a client and friend handed me a check and said, ‘I believe in you—open that studio. You’re going to do amazing things.’ At the time, I was still figuring out my path and hadn’t fully seen the potential in myself. Their belief in me was both humbling and empowering. It was a pivotal moment that gave me the push I needed to take a leap and open the studio. Looking back, that gesture of faith helped me see a vision for myself that I hadn’t yet recognized.”
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I wish I could say it doesn’t happen often, but the truth is there are moments almost daily when I feel like giving up—on serving, giving, motivating, inspiring, and leading. Leadership can be heavy, and it asks a lot of you. But in those moments, I pause and reflect on all that’s been given to me and the people who stand beside me, behind me, and in front of me. That perspective grounds me. Leadership requires sacrifice, but with that sacrifice comes deep gratitude. It’s that gratitude—and the community around me—that reminds me why I keep going.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is the constant narrative driven by social media — that there’s always some new product, outfit, supplement, or trend you have to follow to be healthy and well. It’s overwhelming and honestly exhausting, both for professionals and for the people we serve. The truth is, life — and wellness — can be simple when your priorities are aligned. It’s not about chasing every new fad; it’s about consistency, connection, and clarity. Unfortunately, that simplicity often gets lost in the noise.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I gave everything I had, for as long as I could, with the resources and gifts I was given. That I showed up fully, poured into others, and left a lasting impact through service, passion, and dedication!
