We recently had the chance to connect with Leesa Wolf and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Leesa, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
People often assume our business is just like the ice cream truck popsicles—brightly colored, filled with dyes, and loaded with unpronounceable ingredients. That’s not us at all. Our pops are handcrafted frozen desserts made with real ice cream and fresh fruit, designed for all ages to enjoy. We chose the popsicle format because it’s less wasteful, easy to enjoy on the go, and the same portion size you’d get from a traditional scoop of ice cream. We even make peanut butter “dog pops” for our four-legged fans. And while we charge the same price you’d pay at an ice cream truck, we’re proud to use only the best ingredients, poured by hand with care.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone — I’m [Name], one of the faces behind Frios Gourmet Pops — Fort Worth. We’re a local pop-on-a-stick company on a mission to bring real, handcrafted frozen joy to folks of all ages (humans and dogs).
Here’s what makes us tick:
• We don’t just sell cheap, dye-filled pops like the ones from the ice cream truck. Our pops are made from fresh fruit, real ice cream bases, or thoughtful dairy-free/vegan options. They’re hand-poured with care and made from ingredients you can actually pronounce.
• We chose the popsicle format because it’s fun, portable, and creates less waste — perfect for people on the go.
• We even make dog pops with peanut butter ice cream, so your pup can get in on the treat too.
• Though we charge the same price you’d see from a traditional ice cream truck, we believe you deserve better quality. You’re getting something special, not just sugary nostalgia.
• In Fort Worth, we serve everywhere from TCU concessions, corporate events, warehouse employee appreciation, community festivals, and summer camps to film crews on hot days and summer fun events. Whether it’s through pop drops, our cool carts, or the mobile Sweet Ride truck, we’re always ready to bring frozen happiness to the community.
• We’re not just about selling pops; we aim to create moments of delight, community, and connection. On our site we call ourselves “Happiness Hustlers” — because we want every pop to leave a smile behind.
We’ve been in business for 4.5 years, starting with a single paleta cart and now growing into a storefront at 700 N Jim Wright Fwy, Ste N-1, White Settlement, 76108. What began with just myself and Denise has grown into a team of 12, and we’re excited to keep building. Right now, we’re working on expanding our brand awareness, growing wholesale partnerships, and bringing our mobile “Sweet Ride” experience to even more neighborhoods around Fort Worth.
Thanks for letting me introduce us — we’d love for your readers to taste the difference one handcrafted pop can make.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that shaped how I see the world was realizing as a kid how special it felt when my family shared a treat together on a hot day. It wasn’t about the food itself but the memory it created. My dad especially made ice cream meaningful — he’d take me for a scoop when I did something great, on vacations for a fun treat, and even during not-so-great times, like when I was being bullied.
Those ice cream stops weren’t just about dessert; they were moments to talk, connect, and feel better. As a 40+ year-old woman, I still find myself grabbing ice cream after a rough day, and it still brings me comfort. That perspective drives me now — I want our pops to be part of those little joyful moments people remember for a lifetime.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could go back and talk to my younger self, I’d say, hey, don’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. I’d tell her to let go of the things she can’t control, worry only when she really has to, and make sure to enjoy the little moments of happiness along the way. I’d remind her she’s stronger than she thinks and that one day, she’s going to do amazing things — she’ll save lives, make people feel better, make them smile, and leave a mark she never imagined, both as a nurse and as an ice cream entrepreneur.
I’d want her to know the road ahead won’t always be easy, but it will be full of meaningful moments — helping others feel better, sometimes with care, sometimes with a popsicle, but always with love.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to giving back to our healthcare heroes, first responders, military, and our community of sick children.
Every pop you enjoy with us does more than satisfy a sweet tooth — it helps us give back to the people who give so much for all of us: our healthcare heroes, first responders, military, and kids facing childhood illnesses. I dream of a day when our company is thriving enough to offer a Frios Pop in the moments that matter most: when someone is tired, sad, wants to give up, or grieving a life they tried so desperately to save.
We’re all human, and those moments can feel heavy. By choosing our pops, you’re not just treating yourself — you’re helping us spread comfort, joy, and support to those who need it most. Every purchase brings us closer to that goal, and every smile you help create makes the world a little brighter.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply, in a way most people might not, is the incredible resilience of the human spirit. I’ve seen people at their absolute worst — exhausted, grieving, or overwhelmed — and I’ve learned that even small acts of kindness can make a profound difference. Being mindful, present, and intentional about helping others through those hard moments isn’t always obvious to everyone, but it’s powerful. Sometimes it’s a conversation, sometimes it’s care, and sometimes it’s as simple as a handcrafted Frios Pop and a smile. Those small gestures can help people feel seen, supported, and reminded that they’re not alone.
