Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Shomali.
Hi Nicole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up as a military brat whose role model has always been my strong and loving mother. She showed such determination in the face of many challenges. Watching her navigate life as a woman of color, often without the luxury of rest or self-care, taught me the meaning of perseverance and the quiet beauty of caring for yourself even when the world tells you it’s selfish. Those lessons helped shape the woman I am today.
Born in California and raised all around the world —with most of my childhood spent in Germany —I was exposed to so many cultures, climates, and skin types. This sparked my fascination with how everything in our body is connected, and how the skin, being our largest organ, reflects what’s happening within. From a young age, I knew my calling was to help people in some form. I prayed on it and explored many paths, including psychology, before falling completely in love with esthetics.
As I dove deeper into the field, I quickly noticed how misinformation spread on social media was leading people to harm their skin barriers. Influencers claiming “miracle” products and companies marketing results that didn’t match their ingredients. I realized there needed to be more ethical estheticians. More people who truly cared about education, integrity, and results.
I also hated how self-care was often treated like a luxury add-on. Either overpriced, transactional, or impersonal. I wanted to create a space where women could come in, feel instantly welcomed, appreciated, and cared for, while also receiving real, visible results. I became determined to build something rooted in truth, healing, and education.
That vision became Moodheala — a skin and scalp clinic where you can feel both relaxed and pampered, yet expect results from a thoughtful treatment plan. We go over everything from lifestyle and diet to health before even beginning the service. This gives me a good look into who you are and allows you to open up with any concerns you want addressed. All while you enjoy tea and baklava. Every service is designed to restore balance, confidence, and peace of mind while honoring the connection between the mind, body, and skin. I also designed Moodheala to be a private, comfortable, and inclusive space. Welcoming women from all walks of life, including those who wear hijab or prefer secluded treatments, so every client can fully relax and feel at peace during their experience.
I started from the bottom and built myself and my business with purpose and integrity. My grandparents have also been a huge part of that journey — their work ethic, kindness, and selflessness have guided me my entire life. They’ve always been there for me, whether offering advice, a shoulder to lean on, or simply showing me what unconditional support looks like.
The name Moodheala was born from the Arabic song “مذهلة” (Mudhila) — a word that means astonishing.
The song describes a woman whose beauty isn’t just in how she looks, but in how she carries herself. Her kindness, her strength, her silence, her laughter — every part of her is astonishing. She’s soft yet powerful. Gentle yet certain. Mysterious yet deeply real.
That’s how I see women.
In all walks of life, in every stage, with every story.
We are astonishing — in our resilience, in our tenderness, in the way we care for others even while learning to care for ourselves.
That’s what Moodheala was built to honor.
When you walk into my space, I want you to feel that same energy the song carries — awe, grace, and the quiet power of being seen. Every detail, from the scents to the sounds to the way your skin is treated, is intentional.
It’s about more than results — it’s about reminding you that you are already art in progress.
The love that inspired this name also runs deep in my life.
My parents-in-law adored this song. Their love shaped the kind of marriage my husband and I share — patient, steady, full of respect and warmth. Their example taught me that love isn’t loud; it’s consistent, present, and nurturing.
That’s how I approach my work.
Moodheala is where science meets soul,
where clinical precision meets deep care,
and where every client is treated like someone astonishing.
Because to me, you are.
Today, Moodheala represents more than skincare. It’s a reminder that self-care is not selfish. It’s health care. And everyone deserves access to the knowledge, comfort, and confidence that come from truly caring for themselves.
Moodheala: born from love, inspired by legacy, devoted to the beauty that lives in every woman. 🤍
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think any entrepreneur will tell you the path to success is always a bumpy one. Being a business owner is one thing, following a tried and true model can be easier, but creating your own vision and improving flaws in the system can be much more rewarding. If you have the luxury of having a support system just know how blessed you are because most know how truly lonely and confusing it can be figuring things out by yourself for the first time. So many obstacles you never see coming. But when you finally get the flow going and seeing the impact you have on the community that’s what truly keeps you going if your heart is really in it for the right reasons.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Moodheala is a skin and scalp clinic created to blend science with soul. I specialize in corrective and preventative skincare for multicultural skin, combining both Eastern and Western philosophies to achieve lasting, balanced results. Every treatment is thoughtfully designed to not only target skin concerns but to also calm the mind and body, because I believe true skin health comes from within.
What sets Moodheala apart is the intentionality behind every detail. From the private, peaceful atmosphere to the carefully curated products that are safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types, everything is designed to create both comfort and confidence. My goal was to create a space where women can relax, learn about their skin, and experience luxury care without judgment or pressure.
I carefully tested every single product in my back bar and retail. I hand chose the best of the best products from professional Korean and western pharmaceutical grade brands including Corthe, Dermathod, Glymed, Hydrinity, Colorescience. As well as scalp tailored hair care including Davines naturaltech and OI line. My motto is hydration and exfoliation go hand in hand and you need a balance to achieve radiant, healthy, and happy skin.
I’m most proud of how Moodheala educates and empowers clients. I don’t just perform treatments; I teach clients about their skin so they can make informed choices long after they leave my suite. I always say skincare is 80% home care and 20% in clinic treatments. Consistency will take you a lot further than buying a new serum on TikTok every two weeks. I want everyone regardless of your age to be able to be correctly informed on their skin types and the best way to have that glowing, glass skin. I want readers to know that Moodheala isn’t just about facials or scalp care, it’s a journey of restoration, balance, and self-respect. Self-care isn’t selfish here; it’s a form of health care. Everyone deserves to love the skin they are in.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping people feel seen, understood, and cared for. Not just on the surface, but in every way. I’ve always believed that everyone deserves access to both knowledge and comfort when it comes to caring for themselves. Seeing my clients walk out feeling lighter, more confident, and more at peace is what fuels me every day.
At Moodheala, it’s never just about clear skin or shiny hair. It is about restoring balance, confidence, and connection. I want every person who walks through my door to feel like they finally have someone who truly listens and wants what’s best for their skin, scalp, and spirit. That genuine care and purpose are what keep me grounded and passionate about what I do.
