Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Amaro.
Hi Jorge, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From Santurce to Purpose: The Story of Mista Music Engtertainment
I was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, on July 30, 1975—a place full of rhythm, color, and stories waiting to be sung. From a young age, music flowed through me like a language I didn’t have to learn. The sounds of salsa, reggaetón, and gospel mixed in the streets, shaping the heartbeat of my childhood. While some kids dreamed of fame or fortune, all I wanted was to create something that made people feel alive.
Growing up, I didn’t have much, but I had drive—and a dream that seemed louder than any obstacle in my way. Puerto Rico in the ‘90s was buzzing with new sounds. Reggaetón was starting to rise from the underground, and I found myself right in the middle of that movement. I started writing, producing, and connecting with people who shared that same hunger to make something great. Before long, my journey led me to work with some of the biggest names in the business.
One of my earliest and most memorable collaborations was with Luny Tunes, the legendary producers who helped define the sound of reggaetón. Under the mentorship and guidance of Wise “The Gold Pen”, I began to see what it really took to build music that touched hearts and moved crowds. Wise taught me not just how to write hits—but how to feel the music, how to give it life beyond the notes and words.
Together, we worked on productions that would later become iconic in the Latin music world. I had the blessing of co-writing “Paola” for Héctor El Father’s Bad Boy album—a project that helped shape the early era of reggaetón as it exploded internationally. I also co-wrote “Ve y Dile” for Nicky Jam’s The Black Carpet, another unforgettable experience that showed me how music could connect people across borders and languages.
Those were exciting times. The energy was electric, the studio lights always burning late into the night. I was surrounded by some of the most creative minds in the industry. I even had the incredible opportunity to meet and work with Emilio Estefan, a true legend, and to step into his studio under Wise’s wing. For a kid from Santurce, it felt like standing on sacred ground—where so many Latin music legends had crafted timeless songs.
I continued working with my brother Julio (Dr.Jay) Colon up until now where we created what is k own to be Konexion Latina Music where we work with diferent genres, artists and ideas. This studio located in Killeen as well it is knoen for their profesionalism and dedication with over 20 yrs os experience.
But even in those moments of success, something inside me was restless. I loved the music, the people, and the opportunities—but there was a part of me that felt empty. I was chasing the sound of the world, but I hadn’t yet found the sound of my soul. It wasn’t until I made the decision to turn my life over to God thirteen years ago that everything began to make sense.
When I surrendered my life to Christ, I realized that my gift had never truly been mine—it had been God’s all along. Every melody, every lyric, every late-night session was part of a bigger story, one that I hadn’t yet understood. Suddenly, music had a deeper purpose. It wasn’t about fame, charts, or accolades anymore. It was about ministry—using the power of music to touch hearts, to heal, and to spread the Word of God.
That moment marked the start of a new chapter. My past experiences weren’t mistakes—they were training. God had allowed me to walk through the music industry so I could one day return to it with a message that carried eternal value. Today, I know that my calling isn’t just to make music, but to use music as a tool to bring people closer to Him.
With that vision in mind, I founded Mista Music Entertainment—a label born from both passion and purpose. Our mission is simple but powerful: to glorify God through music and to give opportunities to those who have the talent and calling but not the resources. I know what it’s like to have a dream but not the means to bring it to life. That’s why I’ve opened the doors of my studio at 2512 Legacy Lane, Killeen, Texas 76549, to young people who are eager to make music for God.
At Mista Music Entertainment, we’re more than a label—we’re a family. Every beat, every verse, and every song that comes out of our studio is born from a place of worship and love. We believe that God gives everyone a unique voice, and our job is to help them use it for His glory. Whether it’s hip-hop, reggaetón, gospel, or any other genre, what matters most is the message behind the music.
When these young artists come through our doors, they find a space where they are not judged or pressured to conform. Instead, they’re encouraged to be authentic—to pour their hearts out and let their lyrics reflect their faith. Many of them come from tough backgrounds, just like I did, and seeing them light up when they realize that God can use their talent is one of the greatest rewards I could ever receive.
Preaching the Word of God has become my life—both on the altar and outside of it. Whether I’m sharing a sermon or producing a new track, I carry the same message: that God can transform anyone, no matter where they come from. Music is just the vessel; the real power comes from the message of hope, redemption, and purpose that lies within it.
Every time I walk into my studio, I’m reminded of how far God has brought me—from the streets of Santurce to the stages of Puerto Rico’s biggest producers, and now to a place where my focus is on eternal impact. The same walls that once echoed with the sounds of reggaetón hits now vibrate with praise and worship. The same hands that wrote songs for the world now write songs for the Kingdom.
Looking back, I see that nothing was wasted. Every connection, every experience, every door that opened and closed—God used it all to prepare me for this moment. My story isn’t just about music; it’s about grace. It’s about how God can take a life shaped by rhythm and give it a divine purpose.
Today, as I continue this journey, my goal is to keep growing—not just as an artist or a producer, but as a servant of God. I want Mista Music Entertainment to be a light in the industry, a place where creativity meets faith, and where every song becomes a testimony. I believe that the next generation of gospel artists is rising, and I want to be there to guide them, support them, and remind them that their voices matter.
So to anyone reading this, whether you’re a musician, a dreamer, or someone searching for meaning—remember this: your gift is your calling, and when you surrender it to God, He will use it in ways you could never imagine. From Santurce to Killeen, from reggaetón to redemption, my journey has taught me that true success isn’t found in fame—it’s found in purpose.
