Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonu Dhakal.
Hi Sonu, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I came to this country as an immigrant from Nepal at the beginning of 2012 and began working for a similar business. With support from my husband, Jay Koirala, and the little savings I had, I decided to take a leap of faith, become an entrepreneur, and start my own brand. I am a licensed esthetician, and my goal was to focus on customer service and satisfaction, helping clients feel and look their best. In 2013, I founded “Eyebrow Art by Sonu” in Taylorsville, Utah. I aimed to grow organically by prioritizing customer service, and that is exactly what happened. We grew slowly but steadily, mainly through word of mouth.
In 2020, we opened our second location in Utah, and in 2023, after moving to Texas, we opened our first location in Coppell (150 S Denton Tap Road, Coppell, TX, 75019). At the Coppell location, we offer full spa services. So far, I have provided employment to over 40 people over the course of 12 years, and we have had very little employee turnover because we treat our employees like family and support them in every way possible, including personal help, fair employment, and fair wages. Today, our locations in both the states, are doing extremely well, and in both states, we are top rated service provider.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have had some struggles along the way. A few years after we opened our location, some bad actors spread rumors and misinformation within our community and customer base. They were unhappy with our success because they could not compete with us. As a result, we lost many customers and a significant amount of revenue. To put it bluntly, we had to start from scratch. We focused on rebuilding our customers’ trust and our brand, one customer at a time. Through hard work, perseverance, and by the grace of God, we were able to get back on our feet.
Just as we were getting back to normal, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. We took many precautions, and with the help of our customers, we were able to pivot and provide our services in a safe and effective manner. Ever since, we have tried our very best to provide excellent service while keeping customer safety and satisfaction at the highest level. Today, we are one of the top-rated providers in both cities, and we could not thank our customers and our employees enough.
