Inspiring Conversations with Lisa Bluitt of Holistic Luxury Travel Club

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Bluitt.

Hi Lisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My path has always been about creating experiences whether through the lens of a camera, the beauty brush, or now through travel. When I first shared my story with Voyage Dallas, I was focused on photography and makeup artistry, using my creative gifts to help people see themselves in new light. Those businesses are still part of me, but the last few years have expanded my vision in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

After more than 25 years in the corporate IT world, I felt the pull toward a different kind of freedom. I wanted to design a life that allowed me to spend more time with my family, explore the world, and help others do the same. That’s how Holistic Luxury Travel Club was born—a boutique travel agency specializing in wellness-focused vacations and retreats. I now curate journeys that are as much about inner renewal as they are about exploring new destinations. Whether it’s helping a couple reconnect through a romantic escape, guiding families on multigenerational adventures, or hosting wellness retreats that weave together movement, meditation, and meaningful connection, I see travel as a powerful form of self-care.

The journey hasn’t been linear. I had to learn to blend creativity with entrepreneurship, and I’m still balancing multiple ventures in real estate, beauty, and travel. But what ties it all together is authenticity—showing up fully as myself, building meaningful connections, and helping others experience freedom in their own lives.

Looking back, I see that each chapter has prepared me for this one. Photography taught me to notice beauty. Makeup artistry taught me how to draw out confidence. Real estate taught me how to invest in legacy. And travel—this chapter—teaches me to embrace life’s abundance and help others create memories that outlast a moment.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Transitioning from a steady corporate career into full-time entrepreneurship has been both liberating and terrifying. In corporate IT, I had structure, clear expectations, and a paycheck every two weeks. Stepping out on my own meant I had to rebuild all of that from scratch while trusting that my vision would catch up to my effort.

One of the hardest challenges was unlearning the perfectionism and pace of corporate culture. In travel, things shift daily—pricing, flights, policies, global events. I had to get comfortable with uncertainty and with the fact that I can’t control every variable. On top of that, I was building a brand in an industry where many people don’t understand the behind-the-scenes work of a travel advisor, so I constantly educate while serving.

There are also personal challenges: balancing multiple businesses, showing up authentically on social media even when I’m naturally introverted, and navigating financial risks while still building consistency. Add in the global climate of travel over the last few years, and there were moments I questioned whether I was on the right path.

But every obstacle taught me something vital. The setbacks showed me resilience. The steep learning curves sharpened my skills. And the slow seasons reminded me to trust the process and focus on why I started—freedom, legacy, and service. Looking back, the challenges weren’t roadblocks so much as checkpoints that forced me to grow stronger, clearer, and more aligned with the life I’m building.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Holistic Luxury Travel Club is more than a travel agency—it’s a space where people can design experiences that nurture both their wanderlust and their well-being. I specialize in curating luxury vacations, wellness retreats, and group getaways that go beyond the typical “trip.” Every journey I put together is meant to restore balance, create connection, and leave travelers with memories that linger long after they’ve unpacked.

What sets my work apart is the white-glove attention to detail and the relationships I’ve built in the industry. I don’t just book trips—I create personalized journeys with insider access, exclusive perks, and thoughtful touches that reflect who my clients are and what they need. My background in corporate IT trained me to be detail-oriented and process-driven, and I’ve carried that into travel, blending creativity with precision.

I’m most proud that my brand is rooted in authenticity. Clients know me as someone who will listen deeply, guide honestly, and advocate for them every step of the way. Whether it’s helping couples reignite their connection through a romantic escape, hosting group trips like the Bestie & Sibling Sailaway, or partnering with other wellness leaders for retreats that combine movement, meditation, and adventure, I lead with service.

Readers should know that I see travel as more than a luxury. It’s a tool for transformation! My services range from individual itineraries and luxury cruises to hosted group experiences and wellness-focused journeys. I also mentor others in building travel businesses of their own, showing them that freedom and fulfillment are possible through entrepreneurship.

At its core, my brand is about creating abundance—time, freedom, and unforgettable experiences. I want every person who comes across Holistic Luxury Travel Club to feel like they’ve found a trusted guide who can send them somewhere special, with care and intention.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be start before you feel ready. Perfection will keep you stuck, and clarity only comes with action. I used to think I needed every certification, every system, every detail figured out before I could step out, but the truth is, growth comes in the doing.

For those just starting out, know that entrepreneurship is less about having all the answers and more about being willing to adapt. You will make mistakes. You will second-guess yourself. You will hear more “no’s” than you’d like. But if your “why” is strong enough, it will pull you through the hard days.

I also wish I had known earlier that you can’t build in isolation. Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and a community that stretches you. Ask questions. Share your wins and your struggles. And don’t be afraid to invest in yourself whether that’s in training, coaching, or even just giving yourself the space to rest and recalibrate.

Finally, give yourself grace. The road isn’t smooth or straight, but that’s part of the process. Celebrate small wins, be willing to pivot, and remember that your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. You’re building something that’s uniquely yours, and that’s the beauty of it.
