Today we’d like to introduce you to Wade Larimer.
Hi Wade, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I spent years working in manufacturing — days, nights, and everything in between — dealing with layoffs and burnout. It got old fast, and I reached a point where I wanted more purpose in my work. I wanted to help people, not just contribute to the corporate grind. More than anything, I wanted the flexibility to be present for my family and actually enjoy the moments that matter.
I’ve been around home building and construction my entire life, so stepping into home inspections felt like a natural fit. I’ve always enjoyed solving problems, working with my hands, and helping others, and this industry checked all those boxes. I started out part-time while still working my night job, but eventually I decided to take the leap and give it everything. I partnered with someone who already had an established business and later took it over. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and refine what we do — all while keeping the same foundation: be honest, be thorough, and genuinely care about the people you’re serving.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing about building a business is a smooth road. There are always challenges, especially in the beginning. For me, the biggest struggles were refining processes and learning how to grow the business while still being the one in the field every day. Balancing inspections, reports, scheduling, and marketing — all while trying to build something sustainable — definitely took time and a lot of trial and error. But every challenge has pushed me to improve and create systems that make the business stronger today.
We’ve been impressed with Level Up Home Inspections, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in residential home inspections, primarily for homebuyers. We offer a wide range of services including home inspections, new construction phase inspections, condos, sewer scope evaluations, septic system inspections, pool and spa inspections, detached structures, water quality testing, and mold assessments. The goal is to be a one-stop shop so clients can get everything they need in one place.
What truly sets us apart is our customer service and communication. We know what it’s like to be on the other side of the process, and we take pride in making it smooth, transparent, and stress-free. That’s also what we’re most proud of from a brand standpoint — how we treat people and how we stand behind our work.
I would encourage readers to look at sample reports from any inspector they’re considering. We take pride in being thorough and detailed. There will always be cheaper inspectors out there, but you can’t put a price on attention to detail and genuine customer care.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’m still figuring that out myself. Finding the right mentor or network isn’t always easy, but it makes a big difference. My advice would be to look for someone you genuinely mesh well with — someone who both complements and challenges you. Nothing will grow without both. Keep learning on your own too — read books, take classes, and invest in your personal and professional growth. One thing I’ve learned is to understand the difference between a visionary and an integrator, and know which one you are. That awareness helps you build better partnerships and surround yourself with people who balance your strengths.
