Today we’d like to introduce you to Maricruz Saucedo.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started designing clothes as a teenager, I remember having spirit day at school and dying my pants along with my cousins. Adding our team name. Soon people were asking me for a pair. Also during my quince , I also designed my dress and my damas. I remember making bows and ties. Tho; I didn’t sew I decided to pursue my fashion dreams in my twenties. I was pursuing journalism and something happend where I was told to do something I loved and I will never feel like I was working. I attended school at Art Institute and El Centro. Because the program was so popular I had a hard time getting done; I enrolled and finished in 2007 at Wade College where I earned my degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising.
While in school I was showcasing my fashion line called St. Couture 214 (Street Couture214) . I remember having so many fashion shows and photoshoots. I focused of custom clothing and now I design out of my house. I have created clothing for artist, merchandise for them to sale. I also sell vintage and custom clothing at the DFW Vintage Swap Meet. I also sell wholesale clothing for some vendors and also work the gift and home shows. Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak. I also work as a brand ambassador for many companies. And I also help create events and club promotions. I am a Jack of all trades. My goal is to one day mass produce my line. I also work styling. Tho there is so many different companies I work for I always know how to give my 100 percent.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
