From Small-Town Roots to Blockchain Success: The Journey of Trent Lehman
My name is Trent Lehman, and my journey has been anything but ordinary. I grew up in a small town in central Louisiana, and after serving my term in the U.S. Army, I decided to take a leap of faith and begin a new chapter in Dallas, Texas. Transitioning from military life to the civilian sector came with its challenges, but I was determined to make it work.
After moving to Plano, Texas, I landed my first tech position at Quest Diagnostics, where I worked for about eight years. From there, I broadened my horizons by joining HCL Technologies, and eventually took on my current role at NTT DATA. Each experience taught me discipline, structure, and adaptability — qualities that would later prove invaluable in my next venture.
During my downtime at NTT DATA, I began developing my Plan B — becoming a day trader. I turned off the television, stayed up late studying charts, graphs, and market patterns, and immersed myself in financial education. My first year of stock trading was exhilarating — I earned about $150,000 in profit, which confirmed that I was on the right path.
One night, around 9:30 p.m., my younger brother called and asked, “Have you heard about crypto?” I told him I’d heard of it, but never really got into it. He encouraged me to look deeper — and when he mentioned that crypto trades 24/7, something clicked instantly. I currently work as an Epic Clinical Application Technician with NTT DATA, where I focus on supporting healthcare technology systems that improve patient care and clinical efficiency. My professional journey, however, began long before that — as a Patriot Missile Crew Member in the U.S. Army, where I proudly served for six years, including a tour during the Desert Fox operation and a year stationed in Korea.
After completing my military service, I moved to Dallas, Texas, in 2003 with the dream of trying out for the Dallas Mavericks. Basketball had always been a passion of mine, but during a military tournament — while going up for a dunk — I suffered an injury that changed the course of my athletic goals. Still, I never let that setback define me. One of my proudest moments came when I earned the opportunity to try out for the Idaho Stampede D-League (now the NBA G-League), which was a huge milestone for me both personally and athletically.
What truly sets me apart is my relentless tenacity and daily commitment to self-improvement. I believe in setting small, consistent goals — each one a building block toward something greater. Every day, I aim to be a little better than the day before, not only for myself but to set an example for my family and future generations.
My background — from military discipline to professional tech work and athletic ambition — has taught me that success isn’t defined by where you start, but by how determined you are to keep pushing forward. That mindset continues to drive me in everything I do.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is from my very first high school basketball game. The game was actually broadcast live on the radio, which made it an unforgettable experience for me and my family. I’ll never forget coming home afterward — the energy in the house was electric. My entire family was so proud and excited, celebrating my performance and talking about every play.
