Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfonso Apodaca III.
Hi Alfonso, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Alfonso Apodaca III, and I’m an artist.
My journey began with a deep curiosity for self-expression and the power of visual storytelling. From an early age, I found comfort and meaning in creating, using art to process experiences, emotions, and the world around me. Over time, that passion evolved into a commitment to developing my craft and finding my own visual language.
Through exploration, persistence, and a lot of trial and error, I’ve grown into an artist whose work reflects both personal history and universal themes. Every piece I create is rooted in authenticity, blending emotion, movement, and imagination. Today, my art is not just about creating visuals but about connecting with others through shared human experience.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road? Not exactly, more like a wild, curvy ride with a few speed bumps and detours that kept things interesting.
Being an artist isn’t for the faint of heart. There were late nights fueled by caffeine and doubt, moments where inspiration ghosted me, and times I questioned if I was crazy for chasing this dream. But honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every struggle added flavor…a little grit, a little mystery, and a whole lot of passion.
The road to where I am today has been unpredictable, but that’s what makes it sexy…the twists, the turns, and the thrill of creating something real from pure imagination.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Alfonso Apodaca III, an artist whose work doesn’t just hang on a wall… it breathes, whispers, and sometimes seduces. My art lives in the space between precision and passion, where hyper-realistic charcoal drawings meet the raw emotion of storytelling. I’ve spent decades mastering the human form through medical and legal illustration, and that foundation gives my art its sharpness…every curve, shadow, and texture carries intention. I’m known for creating works that stop people in their tracks: bold murals that dominate city walls in places like Deep Ellum and Cocoa Beach, and intimate drawings that reveal hidden images and layers beneath the surface. What sets me apart is my refusal to stay in one lane…I blend realism with imagination, structure with soul, science with sensuality. My art isn’t just about what you see; it’s about what you feel, what you discover, and what you can’t quite forget. Every piece is an invitation to look deeper…to get lost, to feel something real, and maybe to see a little bit of yourself reflected back.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me in a lot of ways — commissions, collaborations, or creative partnerships that push boundaries and make something unforgettable. I love working with individuals, brands, and other artists who share a passion for authenticity and bold expression. Whether it’s a custom piece, a large-scale mural, or an experimental mixed-media project, I bring precision, emotion, and a little bit of mystery to every collaboration. Supporting my work can be as simple as collecting a piece that speaks to you, sharing my art with others, or reaching out to explore a project together. Art, to me, is connection — and I’m always open to creating something that feels alive, daring, and maybe even a little dangerous in the best way.
