Hi Simi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At the age of 20, I embarked on a journey to become a makeup artist, inspired by my passion for beauty and creativity. Growing up as a Nigerian, I was always surrounded by vibrant culture, which fueled my love for self-expression through makeup. I began sharing my skills and artistry on TikTok and Instagram, steadily growing my online presence while navigating life as a content creator. As I continue to develop my craft and connect with others, I’ve set my sights on becoming the next top influencer out of Dallas, Texas. Known for my bubbly and friendly personality, I love interacting with my followers and spreading positivity, all while showcasing my makeup artistry and unique sense of style.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Content creation has been a challenging journey for me, especially when I faced a series of personal trials that made it hard to stay focused. The passing of my father was a devastating blow that left me grappling with grief, making it difficult to find clarity and peace. At the same time, I was navigating the pressures of graduating from college, which was supposed to be a moment of triumph but felt overshadowed by loss and uncertainty. On top of that, I was trying to maintain a social media presence, curating an image of success and happiness, even though my real life didn’t always reflect that. It was a balancing act of trying to stay authentic while feeling like so many parts of my life were out of control, but through it all, I’ve come to understand that the road to content creation isn’t always smooth, and sometimes it’s through the hardest times that we find the most growth.

As a makeup artist, I’ve carved out a unique space for myself through the beauty content I share on social media. What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with authenticity, offering my followers not just tutorials and tips, but a true glimpse into my personal style and approach to makeup. I focus on empowering my audience by celebrating all kinds of beauty, whether it’s bold, avant-garde looks or natural, everyday glam. My content stands out because it’s relatable and real, showcasing the versatility of makeup while embracing imperfections and celebrating individual uniqueness. I’m most proud of the platform I’ve built on TikTok and Instagram, where I’ve been able to connect with a diverse and supportive community. I’m beyond excited for what the future holds, knowing that there are endless possibilities to grow, learn, and continue inspiring others through my passion for makeup.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Since the COVID-19 crisis, I’ve learned a lot about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of personal well-being. One of the most surprising things I discovered was how quickly we can shift to digital platforms, from work to socializing, and how much of life can continue virtually. I’ve also realized the significance of mental health, understanding that taking time for self-care and setting boundaries is essential for long-term stability. Additionally, the crisis taught me the value of connection—whether it’s through family, friends, or even online communities, human interaction is more important than ever, no matter the distance.
