Today we’d like to introduce you to DeLisa Treshelle.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as a little girl with big dreams, but the pain from my father wounds, especially from my father’s incarceration, blurred my vision for a time. It took years of healing and rediscovering my identity in God to see clearly again. Writing became my first outlet. While attending Baton Rouge Community College, I was mentored by Professor Nero, who was mentored by Maya Angelou. He made me president of the Creative Writing Club and selected me to be part of a nationally recognized book, Voices from the Bayou. That experience showed me the power of words to connect, heal, and inspire.
In 2018, I founded my publishing company, Leaked From My Pen LLC, which grew from my personal blog of the same name. Around that time, God began nudging me toward art; a gift I resisted because my father was an artist, and I didn’t want to mirror him. But once I finally surrendered and picked up a paintbrush, I realized the gift had been inside me all along. Art became another form of healing.
In 2019, I wrote my father a letter expressing how his absence affected me. That letter opened the door to forgiveness and reconciliation. Together, we wrote a book called Rekindled: Hidden Treasures, Forgiving My Incarcerated Father. Before he passed, we created many things together, and those moments helped restore not only our relationship but also parts of me I didn’t know were broken.
Today, I lead Blueprint Creative Studios LLC, a faith-based art company born from a journey of healing, redemption, and transformation. I’ve learned to partner with God in everything I do. My latest book, Childhood Scars, and The Reveal to Heal Journal are transforming lives and it started with the transformation of my own life. Both projects were born from my own healing journey and are designed to help others process pain, rediscover identity, and experience freedom through God’s love. My vision now is to build a creative agency that houses my gifts and provides opportunities for others to heal and create through writing and art. Ultimately, I want to establish an art program that brings healing to children and gives a platform to artists, writers, and visionaries alike.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road definitely hasn’t been easy. Healing is hard, but I’ve learned you have to choose your hard. Life without God was even harder, so I chose to do it with Him. My journey has been full of twists, turns, and restarts. There were moments I wanted to give up, but that same little girl with big dreams always reminded me to keep going. I know I haven’t even scratched the surface of what God has for me, but I press forward because my purpose is tied to serving others.
One of my biggest struggles was getting out of my own way. I battled a fear of success and a poverty mindset that made me believe I shouldn’t dream too big being from a small neighborhood in Shreveport, Louisiana. But God showed me that I couldn’t help anyone if I wasn’t willing to go first.
Losing my dad in 2023 was another major turning point. I stopped painting for nearly a year, heartbroken that he passed just as we began building the art company together. Eventually, God helped me see the beauty in the four years of restoration we shared. He reminded me that He never removes what He won’t replace. Today, He’s blessed me with a new creative partner, Bernardo Garcia, who shares the same artistic vision. Watching everything come full circle has shown me that God truly wastes nothing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Creative Director and the founder of Blueprint Creative Studios LLC and the Reveal to Heal brand. At Blueprint, I help bring stories to life through art, photography, videography, and design, creating spaces where creativity and purpose intersect. Through Reveal to Heal, I guide women and creatives in healing, self-discovery, and creative expression; offering tools like my book Childhood Scars, The Reveal to Heal Journal, and transformative experiences like the Reveal to Heal Event. I’m most proud of setting an example for others, especially my nieces, Amorah and Justice, showing them that faith, creativity, and perseverance can lead to meaningful work. What sets me apart is my ability to see the bigger picture; connecting ideas, people, and artistic elements in ways that tell a story and leave a lasting impact. I’m a visionary who helps others see their potential, heal through creative expression, and bring their stories to life.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m currently in the process of fully building Blueprint Creative Studios and trusting God for a dedicated space in the Dallas area. While the studio is still growing, there are many ways people can work with me. I collaborate on writing and publishing projects, create and consult on art projects, and can be hired to teach prophetic art or paint for creative or worship events. I also speak on topics like healing from childhood wounds, abandonment, and rejection, and I participate in podcasts, TV interviews, and other media opportunities. Additionally, I can be booked as a photographer for personal branding, business photos, and events; interested clients can visit the studio section of my website to book.
I am also hosting the Reveal to Heal Event, a transformative experience designed to guide participants through healing and creative expression. The next event is scheduled for February 7, 2026, and guests can register at https://revealth.rsvpify.com and take $15 off using code HEAL15. Women can follow the Dear Daughter Instagram page at @ddblog_ and soon the Dear Daughter Blog will relaunch, sending out prophetic letters with words from the heart of God. People can support my work by following me on social media. It is @delisatreshelle on all platforms; signing up for my newsletter, or sending a message through my website at www.delisatreshelle.com or via email at delisabrownauthor@gmail.com. For art collaborations, they can also reach out to my business partner, Bernardo Garcia, on Instagram at @bgarcia_art. I love creating spaces where art, faith, and healing intersect, and I’m always excited to connect with others who want to create, collaborate, and inspire together.
