Meet Chris Dias of Tiger Stripes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Dias.

Hi Chris , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Chicago IL. Moved to Arlington Tx in 1984 when I was 10 years old. Moved back to Chicago when I was 21 years old and that is when I learned how to Stripe Parking lots. I striped Parking lots for 4 years then Moved to Lafayette IN for about a year in a half and was a tissue recovery technician for a brief 6 months. Moved back to Chicago and started Bouncing and Bartending in Downtown Chicago for about 3 years then joined the U.S. Coast Guard for 13 years. I continued to bounce in bars in the cities that I lived in for extra money through out my military career. Got out of the Coast Guard in 2016 and began Insurance Adjusting 6 years. After being on the road Adjusting working Catastrophe Claims through out the Country being away from home I decided to start my own business Striping Parking Lots and Pressure washing in November 2023 and Have been Self Employed to date.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Very Hard being self employed and it has not been easy for sure. I was very used to not having to worry about money being in the Military and being an Insurance adjuster. Now being self employed always having to find work and get jobs as opposed to working for someone else that just hands you the work to do is the biggest challenge along with finding good people to work for you.

As you know, we’re big fans of Tiger Stripes . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Tiger Stripes is a Veteran Owned/Minority owned Local DFW small business. We specialize in Striping and Re-Striping parking lots along with any type of Pressure Washing you may need Commercial and Residential. We make ugly parking lots pretty again! Very proud of being able to stripe the parking lot of the High School that I Graduated from in Arlington.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Of course I have had both good and bad luck through out my life and since I have started my business. If I had to choose either between if I had better luck than not being lucky I would have to say that I have had more good luck than bad luck. I am still in business after 2 years now and I do think that is pretty lucky. Even though it has been a rough ride since I started I am still going and do not plan on stopping ever. I do also feel that being an introvert is lucky for me as well do to when I am in group settings I listen way more that I speak. I have always learned more that way.

Pricing:

  • I always like to do a site walk through before giving a price. So I know exactly what I am charging for. So I can explain to the customer to exactly what I will be doing at the property.
