Life & Work with Roman Rose of Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roman Rose.

Hi Roman, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I dropped out of college and pursed a rap career, my mentor who was like my older brother Troy Cannon inspired me to rap because he was doing it and whatever he was doing I wanted to do or be apart of. I realized that we couldn’t make it in the rap industry because the DFW didn’t have a foundation for its culture. So I created the DailyOoze to be a media outlet to showcase the talent we have in the DFW. I had the opportunity to capture the adolescence of the rap careers of artist like Tay-k 47, BashfortheWorld, Pat Ron, and many more. As time went on, rap became to one dimensional, so I started throwing hybrid rap/wrestling shows that would features performances from up and coming artist and wrestling matches for up and coming wrestlers. I had a big break with a show I through called “No way Out of Texas” which legitimatized my name in pro wrestling. The event was a success and was featured in NY times magazine. From there, I kept getting deeper into pro wrestling, making sure wrestling was featured right in hiphop and vice versa, becoming the bridge between rap and wrestling. I then moved to Houston and was hired by 2x WWE hall of famer Booker T to the production team at his wrestling promotion Reality of Wrestling. During that time I became very close with up and coming wrestler Zilla Fatu, where I became his personal cameraman. As me and Zilla slowly started taking over the indie wrestling scene, I then got the opportunity to work for Westside Gunn and Smoke DZA rap/wrestling promotion 4th rope.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been easy. Starting a platform from scratch you run into people not thinking you’re legit enough or big enough to be put on the DailyOoze. The income wasn’t coming in like I thought it would, took huge losses on shows and just dealing with the beast of the entertainment industry. Being used, underpaid the typical trials and tribulations of the buiness

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
It’s hard to put into words everything I do. I pride myself on being the Swiss Army knife of the entertainment industry. My skill set ranges from Videography, photography, event coordinating, graphic designer, host, production, live event producer, community outreach, sponsorship director, wrestling and skateboarding coach. I’m probably most known for bridging the gap between rap and pro wrestling and that’s honestly what I’m most proud of. I love being the go to guy for when it comes to incorporating wrestling into rap and rap into wrestling. I think what separates me from others is all the hats I can wear in the entertainment industry, I honestly think their isn’t a other creative that could match my creative outpouring and skills.
