Daily Inspiration: Meet Altoon C

Today we’d like to introduce you to Altoon C.

Hi Altoon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Originating in Dallas, Tx. Altoon C is a multi genre producer, Dj and event curator. After living in Alpine/Marfa Tx for several years, in late 2019 he traveled home with an instrumental album: Liber Librae. With over 42 million streams, the sub-genre he most commonly push was an experimental sound know as Lofi Hip-hop.
Next he became a resident Dj at Off The Record in Deep Ellum for 2 years.
Thus, the Lofi Dallas event service began. He later toured the experience around Texas (Lofi Houston, Lofi Austin Sxsw).
Originally his 1st show ever was at a gallery in Bishop Arts. Now he’s expanded into the regional Dj for Pancakes and Booze. From opening up for bands at The Granada Theater to Djing Deep Ellum Community Art Fair and even non profit events such as the Band Crawl Against Fentanyl. Altoon C has helped a countless number of southern artists find their careers. As of now you can find him at Club Motherland as a resident Dj.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Braking through different communities, I believe. The underground isn’t for the weak. A 100% proofed work ethic drastically helps. Being that I’m an AV technician, sound guys who don’t really care about the show was huge thing in Deep Ellum clubs. Also I understand, when people feel underpaid they tend not to give the best service. Besides that, just politics of the industry… But I never let any of that get in the way of the music.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve put on Lofi Hip-hop events , when there wasn’t a niche for it in the southern states.
I have brought acts from Seattle, Los Angeles, Arkansas, Colorado and more to Dallas.
European countries love me for the sound I push. Which is some what popular there.
Most of all, a community was created that spans way further than I ever thought it would. Besides Altoon C, I go by the Lofi God. After millions of people listening, think I deserve the title. Lol. I’m proud of my work history, it’s hard to keep momentum, that’s something been doing for 5+ years since coming home in 2019.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Innovation. Create an ethical bridge.
Find a way. I learned resource appropriate actions. A steel chest for show business.
Radio station etiquette, people skills, time management. Budgeting, working out of town taught me countless valuable situations. Lol. Most of all, a sense of professionalism that no institution provided me with. All of this was hands on, self realized… Work. You have to turn your talents inward first. If you appreciate your work, others will too.
