We recently had the chance to connect with Alondra Burciaga and have shared our conversation below.
Alondra, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Definitely the way I have built confidence, in myself and in the people I photograph. Nobody sees the quiet moments of growth, the trial and error, or the lessons behind each shoot. But that invisible progress is what gives my work meaning.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I am Alondra Burciaga, a lifestyle photographer in the Dallas- Fort Worth area. I photograph families, couples, maternity, birthdays and any other special moment. I would describe my style as warm, golden-toned creating a look that feels both classic and modern. What sparked this love with photography was back in 2017 when I photographed my brother for his senior photos, with a PHONE! I then realised how beautiful it was to capture a story with just a single photo and saving that memory forever. After that I purchased my first ever camera and have been loving it ever since. I love capturing genuine moments. The laughs, the in- between looks, and all the small details that tell a bigger story. What makes my work special is the connection I build with each person I photograph. My goal is to make every session feel fun, comfortable and true to you.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents. They have been a huge influence on where I am today. Since we were little I have always seen how hard they worked to give my brother and I the best life. To never settle, and never give up on the dreams you have. They have been the greatest example and continue to guide me.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yes. Back in 2022 I was feeling so drained and hopeless. I felt as if I was not getting anywhere I wanted to be and that is okay. I feel we all go through stages in life where we feel like this and I think those are the times to take a break. Which I did. During that time I always missed photography and whenever I was in front of the camera it made me miss it even more. Fast forward to when I had my daughter in 2023 that’s when I finally sat down and came up with a new business goal and get back to what I love doing the most and looking back at that time I am actually thankful I took that break because I got into a clear head space and gathered all my thoughts to start back up stronger.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I think one of the biggest lies in photography is that you need the most expensive gear or a perfect setup to create beautiful work. In reality, it’s the connection, creativity and emotion that make a photo powerful, not just the camera. The best photos come from genuine moments not the perfect conditions.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want people to say I made them smile, that I brought out their best and that my photos helped them hold onto memories they never want to forget.
