We recently had the chance to connect with Diego Tario and have shared our conversation below.
Diego, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I feel like as i’ve started working out and ditching old habits that its making me feel like a different person and feel alot happier.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Diego Tario and im a contemporary portrait artist working with acrylic paints. My work at the moment is focused on a body of work I called “Forever Saturday” based on those early saturday mornings watching cartoons as a kid that you wish would never end. The paintings are a mix of iconic cartoon characters painted in a realistic style starting with the use of vibrant primary colors.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before I knew i was supposed to be an artist I didnt know which direction my life was heading and I found myself getting in trouble alot even into adulthood. Art has been kind of an outlet for me to entertain my A.D.D. keeping me busy and out of the way.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to focus. life will always find ways to knock you down but you have to keep getting back up build character and go find your opportunities to evolve doing what you’re good at.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
How i differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts is if it feels timeless or not like can you really see people doing a version of what you do in thoir own translation in the future or is it something thats just cool now.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If i only had 10 years left I’d do everything i wanted to do but was scared of. Fear is crippling in many unnecessary ways and creates alot of missed opportunities.
