Story & Lesson Highlights with Molly Sue Garbo of Fort Worth

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Molly Sue Garbo. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Molly Sue, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Great question! All the time. The sweetest moments are ones where you slow down. Creativity is something that is always changing and growing, and I do not want to look back in 10 years knowing I didn’t nurture it.
I want to know that I gave it space to change and grow! Hopefully my photos will be a reflection of that as time goes on.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Molly Sue, I am a 30 year old living in Fort Worth. I have a full time job coordinating special events in Downtown Fort Worth for a private club & that is where I spend my week days. I get to create wonderful events for our members to come and enjoy. Everything from our Christmas parties, to week night wine dinners. I love cooking, very long walks, riding horses, and watching jeopardy with my family! On most weekends, you guessed it… Photos! I love spending my “off” time taking photos. It has truly never felt like work. It is restful and fulfilling all in one! My photography business is called Vine of the Heart after the verse John 15:5 in the Bible. It reads, “I am the vine and you are the branches, whoever abides in me will bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do little.” The name is meant to bring me back to God, who put the twinkle in my eye for photography in the first place.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad has taught me the most about work. He says “the best use of the gifts God gave us is in the service of others.”
He has always worked hard to help others and it is his favorite part about what he does. When he has clients looking to him for explanation, he takes his time to ensure they know every detail.. they might fall asleep in the process (he is quite the talker) but they will leave knowing that without a doubt, he truly cares about them.
I want my clients to feel that. I want them to know I will go the extra mile to ensure they feel their best and have the beautiful memory they deserve.
Thank you Dad. LYTTMAB!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Not really! Photography has been something to me that I know will always be there. The moments I feel like giving up are on a smaller scale, like in editing frustration or technology problems.
One time not too long ago I was preparing my camera for back to back senior sessions and it would not turn on. I tried everything and nothing worked. Frantic, I called my beautiful photography friend/mentor and she let me borrow her BRAND NEW camera for my shoots, without hesitation. I hate letting people down, and for her to help
me keep that commitment to my clients, I am forever grateful for her. Overall, ups and downs are inevitable, but giving up will never be the end of my story!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Over the past few years I’ve gotten to take photos of my bestfriend’s babies as they grow up. I know they would say something about that and how it means the world to me.
They would also say just being light hearted and making people feel comfortable is important to me in every shoot.
They know how much I love people and spending quality time with those I get to serve.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Gosh! I hope they say “she was a rip roarin kind hearted gal who trusted the Lord and never passed up an opportunity to make someone smile.”
