TprettySmile of Dallas, on Life, Lessons, & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to TprettySmile. Check out our conversation below.

TprettySmile, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I always find myself listening to music while I’m working, driving, getting dressed – pretty much all the time. And, per usual, it turns into me having a vibe out concert. I am a music head; I love all types of music. One minute, I may be listening to country, and the next, gospel, and then R&B – you just never know with me. This is one of my techniques I use to calm my nerves and relax before doing a podcast or interview. Even though I lose track of time, I do eventually get back on task and mentally prepared for the event at hand. However, I will still have music playing in the background.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Taia, better known as TprettySmile, is the dynamic host of the “Real Raw Let’s Talk Podcast,” a platform dedicated to unfiltered and honest conversations on topics often considered challenging by societal norms. TprettySmile brings a relatable and engaging presence to her show, fostering open dialogue that resonates with a diverse audience. Real Raw Lets Talk shows how we can have unscripted dialogue and agree or not agree, however, find solutions in bringing up topics that are mandatory to have amongst family, friends, colleagues, and even neighbors. She has seemingly blended her own unique podcasting style with interviewing while also showcasing valuable resources, business promotions, and education. TprettySmile’s comfortable interviewing approach has led her to create “Real Raw Access” which is media coverage for red carpet events to BTS media coverage for special events.

While surviving ovarian cancer and chairi malformation, she is dedicated to raising awareness while advocating for self-love and shedding light on motherhood and parenting. Drawing from her own life experiences and challenges, she creates a transparent and supportive space where others feel safe to express themselves freely.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I will forever call him my little ‘Big’ brother. He is my younger brother, the middle child. Ever since we were kids, he has always been the more responsible one, the one whom Mom leaves in control – you know, the one who never disappoints our parents. My brother, Robert, has always seen me before I even knew who Tprettysmile was. He has always been my rock when I need anchoring, my cushion when I fall, and my joy on my darkest days when there seems to be no corner of sunshine. Throughout life, my brother noticed that I always asked questions and spoke about things others were afraid to address, and he recognized my gifts in life. He has helped manage my business in various ways and even started a game series for the podcast. I am incredibly thankful for the brother I have in my life who has always told me, ‘Never worry about quitting, because I will always be here to push you forward, and never be scared to fall because I will always be your cushion and help you back on your feet.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
In this world, I am certain that we all bear wounds and scars inflicted by life. The unique aspect lies in how we are shaped and affected differently by these experiences. The lasting impact of life’s unforgettable wounds and bruises has significantly influenced my journey. From the sudden loss of both my fathers (biological and stepfather), to the pillars of my family (my brother and uncle) falling prey to the justice system, among countless other challenges – I refuse to allow these hardships to define my narrative. While pain can be enduring and leave lasting scars, I am determined to heal both physically and mentally. I utilize my pain, experiences, and life journey to inspire my conversations and topics. As I undergo healing, I aim to inspire others to do the same by fostering open discussions and creating a space where barriers are broken down and resources are plentiful.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Those who are close to me all know that family holds a dear place in my heart and is highly important to me. I come from a family, where growing up hosting game nights and family gatherings on weekends was all we did and there were never a dull moment. I love to get together with my fellow business partners and friends of “The Kut Up Crew” (Berlinda Buras, Frederick Russell, and Evan Dominic) and have memorable moments and share good vibes, support, and friendship. Other things that really matter to me and stand ten toes on would be, smiling and encouraging others, all my family being safe, my daughter, and of course Real Raw Lets Talk podcast!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope when I’m gone from this world, I pray I am remembered for the love and joy I spread to others. After experiencing cancer, I began to use my story to empower and encourage others to stride forward and to put one foot in front of the other when it seems impossible. I would hope people would have random stories of their interaction with and how I made them feel comfortable and real enough to be real and raw.
