We’re looking forward to introducing you to Stacy Wilson. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Stacy, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely, I would hire myself because I bring a rare mix of heart, hustle, and holistic vision to everything I do. As the founder of Urbanaire Gypsy, I’ve had to wear every hat including creator, marketer, chemist, and storyteller, and still show up with grace, creativity, and faith. I know how to take an idea and turn it into something that not only sells but also serves. I lead with intuition and strategy, balancing artistry with results, and I have the ability to inspire others while getting things done.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Stacy Wilson, and I’m the founder and creator of Urbanaire Gypsy, an all-natural hair and skin care brand that creates all natural hair and skin care products with natural ingredients, faith, and intention into a holistic experience. I started Urbanaire Gypsy with a mission to help people reconnect with themselves by celebrating their natural beauty with multi-purpose products that maximize their beauty rituals that feels both luxurious and intentional. Every product is made with love, purpose, and ingredients you can actually pronounce such as aloe vera, goat’s milk, flaxseed, and shea butter.
What makes Urbanaire Gypsy special is that our products are made from a minimal perspective, which means one jar can often do the work of several. A hair cream can double as a skin moisturizer, and a clay shampoo can also detox and condition. This not only simplifies your routine and helps our customers save money but they can also use less products while getting more nourishment, more results, and more time back for what truly matters.
Urbanaire Gypsy is more than a beauty brand. It’s a lifestyle brand and healing modality rooted in authenticity and divine creativity. I wanted to create something that speaks to the outward and inward beauty while nurturing the body, which is why I infuse Hod given all natural ingredients in every jar and bottle as well as implementing my faith in God into our marketing strategies.
Right now, I’m expanding the brand to include wellness experiences and community events that inspire people to glow from the inside out. Whether it’s a handcrafted moisturizer or a journal that helps you align with your purpose, Urbanaire Gypsy is about embracing wholeness and walking in the beauty of who God created you to be.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when I moved to California. It was the first time I had truly stepped out on my own and began discovering who I was outside of my family’s identity. I had to learn to trust my instincts, find my own voice, and start shaping my path instead of following one that was already created for me.
That experience gave me the courage to later move to China, which completely changed my life. I arrived not knowing the language, the culture, or anyone there, and I had to learn how to survive from scratch. It pushed me beyond comfort and into growth. I learned that power isn’t about control—it’s about adaptability, faith, and resilience.
Those experiences became the foundation for Urbanaire Gypsy. The brand was born from that same sense of discovery and reinvention. Just like I learned to thrive in unfamiliar places, Urbanaire Gypsy was created to help others reconnect with themselves and find beauty and confidence wherever they are in life. It’s about the journey of acceptance and aligning ourselves with our natural God given beauty and trusting that everything you need to grow is already within you.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was a child, there were moments when I felt afraid and uncertain about my surroundings. My mother passed away when I was a baby and my Dad remarried shortly afterwards. My step mother didn’t share the same enthusiasm of cultivating an extended family as my father did. During those times, I learned to go inward and use my mind and faith to create peace for my self. I would imagine myself in a safe, calm place one filled with love, laughter, and God’s presence and I would hold that image in my heart until it felt real. Over time, those moments of quiet faith became my safe space, and somehow, what I envisioned began to show up in my reality. Even as a child, I didn’t fully understand how powerful that was, but I knew God was with me, guiding and protecting me through it all.
That experience taught me one of the most powerful lessons of my life to focus on what I want to see rather than what wasn’t working out. It’s the same mindset that helped me create Urbanaire Gypsy. The brand was born out of that same belief that transformation of everything even how feeling beautiful begins in the mind and the spirit. Just as I once used faith and imagination to create peace, I now use that same energy to help others experience beauty, healing, and confidence through self-care and spiritual alignment. God used those early lessons to show me how to turn a canvas riddled with a negative self image into a beautiful original tapestry of purpose and how to build something that reflects His love and light in every detail.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the beauty industry tells itself is that perfection is the goal. Somewhere along the way, the focus shifted from self-expression and care to constant comparison and correction. I think many people in the industry forget that beauty is not something to be chased. It is something to be identified inwardly and nurtured. True beauty is not about symmetry or flawlessness. It is about acceptance, authenticity, peace…how you carry yourself in your own skin.
Another lie is that the next new product or trend will finally make you feel whole. The industry thrives on reinvention, but real transformation does not come from what is in a jar or bottle. It comes from learning to honor yourself, your culture, and your story. When you feel grounded and aligned on the inside, it naturally shows on the outside.
The final lie is that beauty exists only on the surface. What I have learned is that beauty is spiritual. It is a reflection of the care, love, and gratitude you hold within. When we start defining beauty through that lens, it becomes something eternal, not just external.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am absolutely doing what I was born to do. Since I was a young girl, I have been fascinated by hair and skin. I still remember my grandmother doing my hair one day, and I didn’t like the way it turned out. To motivate her to redo it I pulled on the rubber bands until it missed up the style even more. She in turn was not motivated. lol…She instead made me walk around all day with my hair looking lopsided and in distress. lol…I never forgot that moment. It sparked something in me. Even then, I cared about how the outside world perceived how I looked and felt. Although as an adult u know now that I could have fully rocked the style I was given as a child and my inward beauty could have taken the hair style to the next level. Our beauty is always there…my hope is that my hair and skin products help others enhance their God given beauty by being something that is in alignment with their needs for products made with quality natural ingredients they smell good to provide aromatherapy benefits. I love the creativity that comes from gleaming from God’s garden to cultivate something beautiful, and meaningful.
Beyond beauty, As I also have a degree in Social Sciences from SMU, I have always had a passion for social service. I have long felt called to work in communities by motivating and uplifting people, in a variety of ways, I live that calling every day. My journey has been unique. I have traveled the world, lived in different countries, and learned how to be a culture chameleon while still holding onto my identity in Christ. When I lived in China, I had the opportunity to share my love for Christ with people who had never even heard of Him. That experience taught me how powerful it is to walk in purpose and be a light wherever you go.
Through Urbanaire Gypsy, I continue that mission. I get to remind people that God loves them, that He is present in their daily lives, and that He is still in the business of answering prayers. I encourage people to celebrate who God created them to be, inside and out. For me, this isn’t just a business, it’s a calling. Every product, every word, and every experience I share comes from that deep desire to inspire, heal, and remind others of their divine beauty and worth.
