Story & Lesson Highlights with Yoradi Jubie of Mansfield, TX

We recently had the chance to connect with Yoradi Jubie and have shared our conversation below.

Yoradi, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are really special to me. I wake up feeling grateful and content, thanking God for giving me another day with the people I love. As a busy mom of two — well, four at the moment (but that’s another story!) — my mornings are full of movement and love. I start with prayer, then make breakfast and get the kids ready for school. Once they’re out the door, I take a little time for myself — I grab my journal, read my Bible, and just let my heart settle before the day takes off. Then I check my emails, hop in the shower, and by that point, I feel grounded and ready to take on whatever the day brings.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Yoradi Jubie, and I’m the owner and founder of Indulge Hair Lounge, a private salon space dedicated to helping women look and feel their absolute best. I’ve been a hairstylist for over 18 years, and what began as a passion for beauty has grown into a purpose-driven business rooted in faith, confidence, and connection.

What makes Indulge Hair Lounge unique is the heart behind it. It’s not just about great hair — it’s about creating an experience where every client feels cared for, understood, and uplifted. I’ve always believed that beauty starts from within, and my goal is to help each person who sits in my chair see themselves the way God sees them — full of worth, light, and purpose.

My journey hasn’t been traditional. I met reconnected with Jesus in my Zumba class — and that moment completely changed the direction of my life and my work. Since then, I’ve learned that every detail of what I do — from a smoothing treatment to a simple conversation — can be a way to touch someone’s life. Right now, I’m focused on growing my brand, expanding my services, and continuing to create a space where beauty, faith, and empowerment come together.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I wasn’t enough — that my value was measured by how much I could do, how well I performed, and how many people approved of me. I thought love had to be earned by bending over backward to please others and being accepted by everyone. That belief has been completely transformed. Today, I know who I am and where my worth comes from. The One I believe in reminds me daily that I don’t need to be seen or validated by the world — because He sees me, and that’s more than enough.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me lessons that success never could. I’ve faced my share of stressful and challenging moments, but it wasn’t until I turned 40 that I truly understood something important — if I don’t address the struggles in my life, I’ll keep reliving the same patterns, only harder each time. Through those seasons, I learned to stand up for myself and to have the uncomfortable conversations that growth requires. I’ve discovered that I can speak truth with compassion, and set boundaries with empathy — and that I don’t need anger to make my voice heard.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I believe one of the biggest lies the beauty industry tells itself is that it’s all luxury, glamour, and perfection. The truth is, it can be physically and emotionally draining. There’s so much pressure to live up to unrealistic standards — to always look flawless, to always be “on,” and to pretend everything is effortless. But behind the scenes, most stylists are exhausted, standing on their feet all day, carrying not just the weight of their tools but also the emotions and energy of every person who sits in their chair.

I’ve been there — burnt out and trying to keep up with an image that didn’t reflect reality. The beauty industry often hides behind filters and facades, when in reality, it’s built on hard work, dedication, and heart. True success in this field takes more than just what happens behind the chair; it requires balance, creativity, and purpose. And another big misconception? That being “popular” online equals being successful. Real success, to me, is about impact — not image.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Wow — just reading that question makes me pause. It’s a powerful reminder of how often we take life for granted. If I knew I had only ten years left, I would stop worrying so much about things that don’t really matter — especially other people’s opinions. I’ve spent too many sleepless nights replaying words or moments that, in truth, had nothing to do with me but everything to do with someone else’s perspective. I’m learning to let go of that — to live lighter, freer, and more focused on what truly brings me peace and joy.
