Nina Lewis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Nina, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Currently, I find myself at a significant crossroads in my life, transitioning from the comfort of a 9-to-5 job to the exhilarating world of entrepreneurship. It’s both terrifying and thrilling—a true leap of faith. While I’ve always relied on my faith and self-control in a traditional work environment, I recognize that stepping into entrepreneurship demands a deeper level of both qualities.
This journey is about embracing the unknown and the discomfort that comes with it. Although the prospect can be daunting, my past experiences have taught me that it’s in those uncomfortable moments that I’ve learned and grown the most. Every challenge is an opportunity for growth, and I’m ready to explore what lies ahead.
I believe that following this calling will not only push me out of my comfort zone but also inspire others to pursue their dreams. After all, stepping into the unknown is where God does His best work!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet Nina Lewis, the fearless leader of an extraordinary organization dedicated to reaching out to broken and lost souls. With a background rooted in the traditional 9-to-5 world, i’ve decided to ditch the desk and embrace the wild ride of entrepreneurship.
They say, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” and if that’s true, I have set up camp in the exhilarating territory of innovation.
At SOUL Wilderness Ministries, we don’t just think outside the box; we’ve tossed the box out the window! Our mission is to guide individuals toward healing and purpose through the power of community and faith. We empower everyone to embrace servitude and become beacons of light in their own lives, fulfilling our mission to rekindle the true essence of life in Jesus Christ. Together, we aim to illuminate the world, one soul at a time.
Fueled by a passion for transformation, I am on a mission to brighten the entrepreneurial landscape, one quirky idea at a time. When i’m not busy transforming vision into reality, you can find me enjoying a good laugh with my team, proving that a little joy goes a long way in achieving greatness.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My late Aunt Florence, may she rest in peace, saw me clearly long before I ever saw myself. She was a truly remarkable woman—unique in every sense of the word. From a young age, she would often tell me how amazing and talented I was, seeing potential in me that I couldn’t yet recognize. At the time, I didn’t fully understand her words, but as I’ve grown and experienced life, I now see the woman she saw in that little girl so many years ago. Her belief in me continues to inspire and guide the person I’ve become and am to become!
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life have been moments of loss, disappointment, childhood truma and self-doubt. Losing loved ones and facing seasons where I questioned my purpose left deep marks on my spirit. For a long time, I carried those experiences as pain, but over time, they became lessons. Healing came through faith, self-reflection, and learning to extend grace to myself. I began to understand that every wound carried wisdom, and every setback shaped my strength. Through embracing vulnerability and allowing myself to grow from what once hurt me, I found peace, purpose, and a deeper connection to who I truly am.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
One important truth that many people don’t agree with me on is my unwavering belief in Jesus and the truth of the Bible. This conviction is deeply rooted in my faith and life experience. I understand that not everyone shares this perspective, but I hold a sincere hope that more people would open their hearts and minds to re-examine their views. For me, the teachings of Jesus represent love, redemption, and purpose—truths that have transformed my life and continue to guide everything I do.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I only had ten years to live, I would immediately stop worrying about things beyond my control. Too often, time and energy are spent on fear, doubt, and the opinions of others. I would let go of the need for perfection and the pressure to meet unrealistic expectations. Instead, I would focus on living with intention—cherishing meaningful relationships, creating with purpose, and embracing every moment with gratitude. Life is too precious to waste on anything that doesn’t bring peace, joy, or growth. After contemplating this question and answering it, I honestly feel this is my aim regardless of the 10 year mark.
