We’re looking forward to introducing you to Glory Rodriguez. Check out our conversation below.
Glory , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
It really depends on the day of the week, my focus shifts from day to day. Some days it is more physical training for my martial arts, some days are more computer heavy and language learning, and some days are just spent at the studio. All in all I feel fortunate for being able to start the day living the life I chose for myself. As soon as I wake up I like a slow morning without a lot of over-stimulation. I noticed a pattern, that if I start the morning too fast I burn all my matches and will not have any energy left. I practice my morning pages (write 3 pages of brain dump ideas or thoughts), while drinking tea and looking out at the sunrise. That usually takes up 1 hour of my morning. Then I set up my bag to go train/run/class/studio. Depending on the day of the week.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The question of introduction is so heavy because where do I start? Haha, Well I like to start off by saying I am an evolving Artist. Always learning and growing. I started 5 years ago with Modeling and then I really got focused into my Acting while juggling my paintings on the side. Lately my focus and gravity has pulled me to just painting full-time. Painting has been my 1st love, ever since I was a kid. I know my art is unique( and every artist can say the same), because the ideas are coming from the universe, coming from thin air out of our consciousness. It is literally like giving birth to creativity. Shaping it how your imagination sees it.
My website most likely will be up running when this post gets published, but it will be www.gloryrodriguezart.com. It is being slowly updated and constructed so be patient at the moment.
At the moment I am working on 4 new pieces all very different from each other from texture to different mediums. I am very excited for everyone to enjoy it.
Other hobbies on the side of my art is that I train Brazilian jiu jitsu for over 2 years and I am quite addicted. It lets me channel my brain to another gear and helps my “problem solving skills” and blows off some steam. I am entertaining the idea of competing next year.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I will try to make this short and simple, but as a child people made me believe that I was too much or too weird or just difficult. As I have evolved I realized that my brain worked uniquely and differently than most. I admire how I think and who I am. My brain is sensitive and fast but without those qualities I would not be this creative wonderful person. Not everyone is meant to like your personality but you definitely will find the ones that will.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It is okay to cry and to feel all these emotions. Your heart is so beautiful and your mind is so strong.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
The highest form of energy is Authenticity. That form of energy has a high frequency and people are attracted to it, some are intimidated by it.
Overall I feel like being anyone I am not is a lot of hard work.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Outside in nature. It stops my brain and helps me get into the present moment. Gardening and planting. The next project will be constructing a bee hive and learning about bees.
