Life & Work with Aryiah Brown of Mansfield, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aryiah Brown.

Hi Aryiah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
ItsRyRy Art & Design began in high school at 17 years old—however, it wasn’t called that yet. A classmate asked for a portrait and a friend encouraged me to charge him for my work, knowing my potential. That first commission sparked a path from pencil drawings to paintings—and eventually to brand and logo design over the course of 7 years.

I pursued graphic design at the University of Texas at Arlington to sharpen my craft and build real-world skills for my business and corporate companies. Since graduating in May 2025, I’ve met a personal graduate milestone by securing three commissioned clients and counting.

I’ve always been a creator at heart, and I choose to use those gifts to serve others—whether that’s a portrait that captures a story or a logo that anchors a brand. I’m committed to continuous growth in every area of life and business, and I’m grateful for my family’s support—every print they buy and every investment they encourage never goes to waste.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—and I’m grateful for that. No journey has ever been a smooth road. Early on, I made classic first-time entrepreneur mistakes: underpricing my work, unclear scopes, and learning the hard way about contracts and communication. I also struggled with finances as a teen artist, stretching every dollar for supplies while balancing college applications during the pandemic. The toughest setback was having my art page on Instagram hacked during the pandemic; losing months of posts and momentum felt like having my progress pulled out from under me. I was emotionally impacted by that moment to where rebuilding taught me resilience, better digital security, and the value of owning my audience beyond one platform. Each misstep became a lesson that shaped the businesswoman I’m becoming—more confident in my pricing, clearer in my agreements, and committed to continuous improvement. The road hasn’t been smooth, but starting young gave me room to experiment, fail, and keep my passion alive.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So my name is Ry Renée and I’m a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer specializing in portraits, paintings, and brand identity. I create work that’s expressive, functional, and built to last–blending traditional media with digital precision. Clients know me for a clear, collaborative process—research, mood boards, sketching, vectoring—and polished delivery across print and digital. I’m most proud of my illustration skills in creating beautiful images of stylized portraits and realism still life. I stand out when I can take the time and freedom to transform something simple to a dynamic visual–rarely imagined.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always an extrovert. Even as a baby, I loved introducing myself to everyone I passed—outgoing, friendly, and a bit of a daredevil. I spent most of my time with family and friends, especially at celebrations, and I chased adrenaline on rollercoasters and go-karts whenever I could. I thrived on creative collaboration and loved sharing ideas with other artists. I was also an all-around girl who could move between different cliques thanks to my involvement in music, art, theatre and dance.
