Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Patterson.
Hi Travis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am currently an entrepreneur here in Dallas. My alternative streetwear brand, Considered Dead Apparel, is something I started In Los Angeles and brought here to Dallas over a year ago. Considered Dead is rooted in the L.A. metal/punk scene and strives to push a eco-friendly agenda.
How Considered Dead got started goes back to 2020 Los Angeles. I had previously had experience working in radio and a friend had an idea of starting a podcast, Considered Dead Podcast. This podcast catered to the many metal/punk bands in L.A. to give them an outlet to share their music. After 3 years the podcast ran it’s course and in 2023 I decided to turn my logo into a clothing line. This is when I learned about eco-friendly clothing. Now, I knew nothing about the fashion industry, and still earning, but I knew I had something unique that could become something.
In 2024 I moved to Dallas (Mesquite) and decided to pick up where I left off in L.A. I started vendoring at any small or big event across Texas to put my brand out there. What I learned is that I have a much broader audience here in Dallas. So I’ve focused on providing an alternative clothing brand that caters to fashion, to the environment, to being affordable in the streetwear industry.
I now have a marketing team Im working with that’s doing an amazing job to get my clothing to the next level and be a brand that is a staple in Dallas.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a big learning curve understanding the fashion industry. Timing has been a big factor. The time it takes to communicate with clothing manufacturers and placing orders. Also communicating the eco-friendly agenda to potential audiences. Here in Texas being green is not as relevant as it is in California. I know it’s something new I’m pushing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My career has been all over the place from being a banker, to the film industry, radio, working with marine mammals, owning a videography business, it’s eclectic. I’m just a person who can’t do one thing. Currently I’m focused on the apparel because I have new merch coming out. But I am also starting a part-time food vendor business, and working on an brewery internship in hopes to open my own sometime next year. Basically, Dallas has a lot of opportunities, I have a lot of ideas, and I want to see where my ideas takes me.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
For the Apparel industry, I think there will be a lot more eco-friendly products. I feel it’s a universal thing we have to look after our environment. Anything helps, clothing is a part of it.
There’s always going to be trends or some new styles. I myself struggle to keep up with trends because I prefer simple. And you’ll see that in my designs.
