Meet Conner Hatfield AKA Con The Baptist of DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Conner Hatfield AKA Con The Baptist.

Hi Conner, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a family filled with music. Every holiday and gathering was filled with jam sessions and learning new instruments. In high school and college and started playing in bands and writing my own stuff. That quickly grew to an obsession with the craft and I fell into music production. I was so blessed to be apart of a local music studio in Grand Prairie as their marketing and graphic design guy where I was able to learn from some truly talented people. As I got better at music production I knew it was path into the industry. I started DJing because I knew if I wanted to be a touring musician within the EDM scene I needed to be a killer DJ. I have been head over heels with the craft since I started. Growing up I was always the kid stealing the aux cords at parties and I feel DJing is an evolution of that for me. The evolution of the feeling from showing someone a song you think is great and they respond to it well. One of the best feelings in the world. Today I am living my dreams of doing music full time and pushing to one day tour with people wanting to buy a ticket to hear my own creations live!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been a road full of ups and downs. Bands that broke up, projects that feel thru, labels and management teams that were all smoke and mirrors, on and on. That being said there is absolutely nothing that could ever happen that would make me quit the pursuit of my dreams. A professor at Mediatech once told me “if you never make it to the level of success within music, would the journey be worth it”. My answer is yes. I love music and I love creating. The journey has been so much fun so far and I cannot wait to see where it takes me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am Con the Baptist! A DFW based EDM producer and Dj. I specialize in house and 140 wub but I enjoy creating any and all music. I want to be an artist that is constantly genre bending and never stuck to one sound. I am most proud of the Open Decks I started at Curfew Bar Fort Worth. We have been doing that for just over a year now and it’s been amazing to meet so many amazing artists. We have all learned so much from each other and have built such a beautiful community there. It’s every other Sunday yall should come out!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My dog, my wife and my family. Not in any particular order. They are my rock and I could not do what I do without them. Truly without my wife’s support and belief in my ability I would not be where I am today.
