Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Segundo.
Hi Denise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Denise, a cancer survivor and the proud owner of Jazy&Eve, a handmade children’s clothing and lifestyle brand based in Dallas, Texas. My story began with a love of creating. I learned to sew clothes when I was just 12 years old, making dresses, skirts, and blouses for my sister and mother. Beyond clothing, I was always making things—jewelry, purses, shoes, cushions, and rag dolls—all inspired by my mother’s teachings. That creative spark became a lifelong passion.
Since I was a teenager, I dreamed of designing clothes and owning my own store where I could bring my creations to life. Today, I design my own fabrics and prints, carefully crafting each pattern and transforming it into beautiful, handmade garments for babies and children. Every piece is created from start to finish by me, from design to sewing to finishing touches, ensuring that each item is unique, original, and full of love. Seeing my designs come to life in the hands of families and watching children enjoy them is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth. Running a small business comes with sacrifices, unexpected hurdles, and constant learning. I faced some of the toughest challenges of my life when, in 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer just days after celebrating my 6th wedding anniversary. The diagnosis turned my world upside down, bringing fear, uncertainty, and emotional turmoil.
During the months that followed, I underwent intense chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, and each day was a battle—physically, mentally, and emotionally. There were moments when I doubted whether I could continue, when my body and spirit felt exhausted, and when the future seemed uncertain.
Yet, even in those dark times, I found strength in my passion for creating, in the love of my family, and in the support and encouragement of my customers. Their kind words, appreciation, and messages of joy reminded me why I started this journey in the first place. Despite the hardships, I pushed forward, fueled by hope and determination, and continued pursuing my dreams, one stitch at a time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in handmade children’s clothing and lifestyle products that combine creativity, quality, and heart. What sets Jazy&Eve apart is that every item is carefully crafted from start to finish by me and my family, ensuring attention to detail, originality, and love in every stitch.
I’m especially proud of our exclusive prints and designs—these are pieces you can’t find anywhere else, created with my personal vision for beauty, comfort, and uniqueness. My goal is to bring joy not just through clothing but also through connection: seeing families enjoy my creations, celebrating milestones, and feeling that special love woven into every product.
As a cancer survivor, I will also be developing a heartfelt lifestyle brand that celebrates courage, healing, and connection, with wearable reminders of hope, love, and strength. This next chapter will reflect the resilience I’ve cultivated and the belief that even after hardship, life can bloom beautifully.
How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about numbers or recognition—it’s about living a life fueled by passion, creativity, and purpose. It will be the satisfaction of doing what I love, despite obstacles, and creating something that brings joy to others. It will be the moments when a customer shares a story of their child wearing our clothes, when our handmade pieces spark happiness, or when someone finds hope in the “Still Blooming” message of my upcoming projects.
Success, to me, will also be resilience—being able to face life’s toughest challenges, continue pursuing your dreams, and inspire others along the way. Every story, every creation, and every act of kindness will be part of what I consider success.
I will always be grateful for my community—my family, my customers, and everyone who will support Jazy&Eve. Your love, encouragement, and belief in what I do will make every sacrifice worth it.
And this is just the beginning—stay tuned! I will have many dreams and projects coming to life. As a cancer survivor, I will be launching a heartfelt lifestyle brand that will celebrate courage, healing, and connection—through wearable reminders of hope, love, and strength. Every product will carry a story, and every story will connect us. Together, we will create a world where hope lives in color, words, and design.
This brand will be for women and families who value purpose-driven products—survivors, supporters, and anyone who will want to express emotion through what they wear and gift. Because healing is a journey—and no matter the hardships, we will be still blooming.
I will have many dreams, many things to do in my life, many years to give, many years to learn, many years to enjoy, and many years of love. I cannot wait to share these new projects with you and continue creating something meaningful that will inspire and uplift.
