Meet Tony Spino of The Frisco Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Spino.

Hi Tony, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Back in 2007 a good friend and myself were having lunch and just chatting about what we thought the City of Frisco needed. So we began writing our thoughts down on a napkin, as all great ideas start here! We began discussing the concept of a new local bar. Both of us grew up in a city that had neighborhood bars, a place where all the locals would gather to hang out and this is where the concept began. In a city where every neighborhood was surrounded by a brick wall and every house surrounded by a wooden fence, it was clear to us that it is very difficult to build a sense of community. We opened The Frisco Bar in hopes it would be a place where friends and neighbors could gather and connect with each other. Our goal was that we would be the spot that you could hear a local band, watch your favorite sport, or just connect with friends. By June of 2008 we had opened The Frisco Bar, a “Place Where Old Friends Meet and New Friends are Found” (our slogan). we soon realized that this is exactly what the community needed.

We began measuring the success of our business not by the amount of money that was made or lost, but by the connections and relationships that were built. We soon found that we were building a family of friendships within the community. TFB as we call it continues to be an intimate part of the community and its customers lives, we have celebrated weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, engagements and so much more. We have also journeyed through some of life’s more difficult journeys with our people as well, Loss of a loved one, loss of a job, divorce and so much more.

TFB has also made it a priority to give back, we support so many local charities particularly The Boys and Girls Clubs of Collin County, Helping our Hero’s, The Boot Campaign and several smaller charities. We host an annual crawfish boil that has brought in as much as 35k in one day to help these charities. We believe that if we are going to operating in a community then we should also be giving back to help support that community as well!

In 2018 we had to relocate from our original location 2 miles away due to leasing agreement issues, We settled on a location in Hall office park for several reasons. Firstly it was close and we had already built up ten years of relationships and didn’t want to lose that because of distance. secondly because we felt that now we could be close to our friends while they are at work! We were greatly impacted by covid being forced to shut down for about 4-5 months, and we are still currently facing difficulties from that ass the surrounding offices never filled back up!

We continue to focus on developing relationships and connecting with new friends each and every day! as we come up on almost 20 years we hope that one day we will be known as the “Cheers” of Frisco.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
this industry has its ups and downs and we are always faced with difficulties that are out of our control. The biggest of which I had mentioned earlier which was Covid the shut down and the return to the office! these things continue to affect us each and every day! We also have to constantly battle the rising costs of food and beverage,

As you know, we’re big fans of The Frisco Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Frisco Bar and Grill (TFB) is not just another bar that serves bar food! While we do serve bar food, you need to know that its just not ordinary frozen bar food. We hand craft our burgers, our seasonings, sauces, pico and salsa are all made in house! We care about the food that we are serving! While we do have some frozen bar food we specialize in our hand crafted burgers, fresh tacos, hand made pizzas, Buffalo wings and so much more! We also care about your experience while you are here. We hope to share a laugh with you, get to know you and eventually connect with you. You are not just another customer that walks through the door!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
