Hi Kanetia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Of course. I started out making plates from home when COVID hit. All the restaurants were closed pretty much and everyone was at home and on their phones. I used that opportunity to my advantage. I started frequently posting things I’d cook. Then, I did my first private dinner. Things took off overnight after that. I was doing private dinners 2-3 times a week. Then the caterings started. I didn’t realize at that time how much my business was about to grow.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t be truthful if I said it has been a smooth road. I found out quickly that people like to see you doing good but not better than them. I had people to try to take my kindness for weakness and really want me to fail. My grandma always told me smiling faces tell lies. I definitely learned that along my journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I cater both small and large events. From personal orders to weddings to military balls. I’ve done it all. I specialize in creating an unforgettable experience through food. I’m known for my, as people will say, beautiful setups and flavorful dishes. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is my love for what I do. I am very detailed with my setups and I really take pride in what I do.
How do you think about happiness?
People enjoying my food. That’s what makes me happy. To see their expressions when they take a bite of what I’ve prepared for them is so rewarding to me.
