Check Out William Tadlock’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Tadlock.

Hi William, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began showing livestock through FFA in the 6th grade, and that experience, combined with growing up around dogs, sparked my interest in veterinary medicine early on. At 16, I started my first job as a kennel technician, and working in a veterinary clinic only strengthened my passion for the field. I went on to earn my undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and then completed my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University.
After graduating, I moved to the North DFW area where I worked in a mixed animal practice. In September 2023, I opened Livewell Animal Hospital, which has been an incredibly fulfilling journey. Outside of the clinic, I continue to stay involved with large animals by working at a cattle sale barn in Durant, OK, and I also own horses and cattle myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not always been smooth, but it has certainly been rewarding. Every career comes with challenges, whether you are working toward the goal or living it day to day. I tend to be my own biggest critic because I hold myself to a high standard, and I believe that helps me deliver the best care possible.
One of the greatest challenges in veterinary medicine is that our patients cannot tell us what is wrong. We rely on observation, communication with the owner, diagnostics, and experience to piece together the answer. While challenging, this is also one of the parts of the job I enjoy the most. Every case is like a puzzle, and no two days are ever the same.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am primarily a small animal veterinarian, although I continue to work with cattle and horses as well. As a general practitioner, I manage a wide variety of cases including wellness care, dermatology, internal medicine, and orthopedic surgery. One of the things I am most proud of is the level of trust I have been able to build with my clients. I am honored that many are willing to travel long distances, even from out of state, to bring their animals to me.
I believe my approach sets me apart. I work hard to maintain a positive, compassionate, and open-minded environment, and I am always willing to learn new techniques or explore new treatment options when they may benefit my patients.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Strong client relationships are essential in veterinary medicine. Taking care of animals also includes taking care of the people who love them. I value earning their trust and making them feel confident that their pets are in good hands. Seeing an animal recover after being sick or injured and knowing I played a part in that journey is the most rewarding aspect of my work.
