Meet Erica Smith of Plano, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Smith.

Hi Erica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my makeup journey in Dallas, Texas in February 2008, after moving from Kansas City, Missouri in April 2007. I started freelancing in makeup around November 2007 and started working full time at MAC Cosmetics at Nordstrom Dallas Galleria. I left MAC in April 2015 at noon while I was managing at the MAC store in Plano, Texas at the Willow Bend Mall. I scheduled my first Eyes By Erica client at 4:30pm. I have been a full time entrepreneur ever since that decision to leave Corporate Retail Cosmetics in April 2015 until today. I’m very grateful for my journey of believing in myself and starting my own business, Eyes By Erica.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has been the hardest decision of my life, starting my own business. I already had a vision of working for myself but never fully understood the commitment and sacrifice of executing Eyes By Erica. I have to continue to have faith for my future and success of my business. I came from a long lineage of successful business owners and entrepreneurs in my family. I believe that my ancestors are pushing me to my destiny.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional makeup artist in a world that idolizes beauty and perfection. My business is built to encourage and enhance people’s personal appearance through artistry and self confidence representing the best version of themselves to the world. I believe what sets me apart from my competitors is ME! I am my own super power; authentically being Erica!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Success is a very subjective measure and my 18 year journey as a Professional Makeup Artist has taught me many life lessons that I don’t believe I would have ever learned working for someone’s dreams and vision. I believe that my unwavering commitment to my destiny drives me to continue to fight for my purpose and passion for my business that is my ministry of Eyes By Erica.
