Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Bindewald.
Hi Andrew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into mental health care began with a deep curiosity about how the mind, heart, body, and spirit work together to shape who we are. After earning my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I have spent more than a decade working across a variety of therapeutic settings, from traditional counseling to advanced neurotherapy.
Over time, I became passionate about integrating the science of the brain with the compassion of the heart — helping people not only understand change but experience it at a neurological level. That calling led me to become board certified in neurofeedback (BCN) and biofeedback (BCB), as well as a diplomate in qEEG brain mapping (QEEG-DL).
In 2020, I founded my first private practice in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and the latest iteration is now Beacon Neuro-Therapy in Plano, Texas. Beacon Neuro-Therapy was created to be a place where neuroscience and compassionate care meet — where people can encounter not only clinical excellence but also Hesed, a Hebrew word often translated as “lovingkindness” or “steadfast love,” especially in the midst of emotional pain.
The name Beacon reflects that unshakable hope — a guiding light for those navigating struggle, pain, and mental health challenges.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. After several years of building a thriving practice in Michigan, moving back to north Texas to be closer to family at the end of 2024 has both a blessing and a major transition. Starting over meant re-establishing my client base, navigating new business hoops, and rebuilding the rhythms of running a private practice in a new community.
At times, it was humbling to step away from something successful and familiar to begin again. But it also reminded me why I do this work in the first place — to live out my core values, to love my family well, and to offer the same sense of Hesed—steadfast care and presence—to my clients that I’ve received in my own life.
This season has taught me that growth often comes through disruption, and that faithfulness, not perfection, is what sustains both healing and purpose.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Beacon Neuro-Therapy is a specialized mental health and neurotherapy practice located in Plano, Texas, serving clients both locally and across multiple states through telehealth. We integrate cutting-edge neuroscience with compassionate, evidence-based care to help people experience lasting change from the inside out.
What truly sets us apart is our emphasis on understanding mental health as brain health. We believe that when people can see how their brains function, they can better understand themselves and their struggles. That’s why every treatment plan at Beacon begins with a qEEG Brain Map — a powerful, noninvasive assessment that measures real-time electrical activity in the brain. It helps identify areas of over- or under-activity that often correspond to symptoms such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep problems, TBI, and more.
From there, we use individualized neurotherapy approaches — including neurostimulation, neurofeedback, and counseling — to help the brain restore balance and resilience. This integration of science and compassionate care allows clients not just to talk about change, but to experience it neurologically and emotionally.
More than ever, our community needs to prioritize mental health as brain health. A qEEG Brain Map is not just a assessment tool — it is a mirror that empowers people to see the incredible capacity their brains have to heal, adapt, and grow.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
