Meet Chaniya Polk of Longview Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chaniya Polk.

Chaniya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been full of growth, faith, and purpose. I started Sassy Collection’s in 2017 with lipgloss and slowly started adding clothes. Over time, I found myself balancing it all — being a mom, business owner, dance coach, content creator and community leader — each part shaping who I am today. In 2022, my world changed when I lost my brother Codie Polk. His passing was one of the hardest moments of my life, but it also became the reason I started Coworld — a brand built to keep his name and our dreams alive. Through everything I do — from coaching my dance team, creating content, hosting events, or running my businesses Sassy Collections & Coworld — I carry that same mission: to inspire, to uplift, and to turn pain into purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was dealing with personal loss—losing my brother in 2022 was life-changing, and it inspired me to start his brand, Coworld, to honor his legacy. Beyond that, building a business from the ground up comes with the usual challenges. Each step required resilience, patience, and learning from mistakes, but those challenges also shaped the journey and made the successes even more meaningful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m in my fifth year of education, currently teaching 1st grade, and I’ve also taught 4th grade. Beyond the classroom, I’m proud of balancing multiple roles while inspiring others—students, followers, and event-goers alike. What sets me apart is my ability to bring creativity, passion, and personal connection into everything I do, whether it’s teaching, building a brand, or creating experiences for my community.

How do you define success?
Success for me is making a positive impact—helping students grow (inside of the classroom & on my dance team), honoring my brother through Coworld, inspiring my community through content and events, and building a business like Sassy that people love and shop at. It’s also about setting a strong example for my son and leaving a meaningful mark!
