Life & Work with Paulina Ornelas De Alba of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulina Ornelas De Alba.

Hi Paulina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Paulina, a woman who learned to crochet as a child. I was about 8 or 9 years old when my grandmother taught me — without realizing that, along with a skill, she was giving me a treasure I would carry with me for the rest of my life.

Thirteen years ago, Conceptual Boutique was born in Mexico as a brand that reflected my passion for crocheting and design. Some time later, I got married, moved to Miami, and became a mother — marking the beginning of a new chapter in both my life and my project. There, Conceptual Boutique evolved in ways I could have never imagined: new materials, the influence of the sea and the beach, and a different kind of energy that transformed how I create.

After the pandemic, I made an important decision: to leave my job and dedicate myself completely to this dream that has saved me many times and also to motherhood.

Today, I live in Dallas, where another story is being woven — one that continues to grow, learn, and reinvent itself, like every thread that makes up my life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The challenges are always there — time, sanity, quality… but above all, consistency. Creating comes naturally to me when I’m in the right environment — free and at peace.

I currently have a full-time job, I’m a mother, and I have an insatiable desire to keep learning new things. But my passion and inner fire are much greater than any obstacle. I’ve learned to flow with life and let that flow work in my favor.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I design and produce purses, home décor items, and corporate gifts. I love working with natural fibers, making the most of both their form and functionality. I am recognized for the quality and authenticity of my products.

What sets me apart is that each piece becomes unique and personal the moment someone acquires it, creating a special connection between the item and its owner.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
That’s a great question. Crochet, as we know it, has been around for about **two centuries**, which is enough to know that it will remain relevant in the next 5 to 10 years. The real evolution will come from the use of new materials and forms.

I foresee significant growth for **Conceptual Boutique** during this period, always staying true to creating functional and meaningful items for our clients.
