Life & Work with Lisa Garland of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Garland.

Lisa Garland

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been a storyteller at heart. I was the kid that got in trouble for talking too much in class. Over time, I learned to harness that creative energy into telling Brand narratives and using communication to connect people, places and ideas.

After earning my degree in Communications, I started my career in public relations working in the luxury hospitality space. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead communications for respected brands including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton and now Loews Hotels and Co.

Each step in my career has been about building relationships and showcasing the people and stories that make up the DNA of a Brand. When I joined Loews Hotels in Arlington, it was an exciting opportunity to grow awareness for established sports resort, Live! by Loews – Arlington while preparing for the opening Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center — both situated between iconic stadiums in the most premier entertainment district in the country.

It has been a rewarding journey built on collaboration and a genuine love for bringing stories to life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I’ve learned that moments of uncertainty are where we grow the most. The COVID-19 pandemic was one of those defining times for me. Like many in hospitality, I was furloughed when travel came to a standstill. It was a difficult time not knowing what would happen to my career. After two months, I was fortunate to be recalled to work and asked to step into a leadership role to help navigate communications during one of the most uncertain times our industry had ever faced. It was both challenging and humbling.

I remember when my hotel at the time hosted the MLB Post Season / World Series “bubble.” There was no playbook for that! That experience taught me a lot about adaptability, empathy and the importance of strong communication in times of crisis.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my role as Area Director of Public Relations for Loews Hotels in Arlington, I lead brand communications for Live! by Loews – Arlington and Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center. The two hotels are connected by skybridge and situated in the heart of the Arlington Entertainment District. My work centers around building meaningful connections through media as well as relationships that bring the Loews brand to life within our community.

I specialize in strategic partnerships, brand storytelling, and creating experiences that connect guests, locals and the community in authentic ways. One of the most rewarding collaborations I’ve been apart of has been the partnership with the University of Texas at Arlington’s Masters of Fine Arts – Glass program, showcasing student artistry through hand-crafted glassware at Live! by Loews – Arlington and a rotating art exhibit at Loews Arlington Hotel. These initiatives not only celebrate local talent but also weave the Local by Loews spirit of our community into the guest experience.

I was recently named as an honoree in the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2025. This acknowledgment reinforces how much I value being part of the Arlington community.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
