Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Palumbo.
Hi Kat, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I first started my original Kat’s Adventures Instagram page during college in 2017 after I studied abroad in Spain. I wanted a place to document all of my travel content since I traveled throughout Europe while studying abroad. At the time I was learning about photography so it became a travel page as well as sharing some of my photography. I grew the account over the years and reached about 4,500 followers. In 2023, I deleted all of my social media accounts for the foreseeable future. In 2024, I decided to come back on social media and re-brand the account since I lost the old one anyways. I decided to only focus on Kat’s Adventures, which meant featuring myself, Kat, and all the fun things I do. This includes many types of adventures including traveling the world, exploring all the unique coffee shops, yummy restaurants, or participating in fun activities around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. I wanted to become an influencer/content creator and a few of my friends gave me tips on how to get started. I’ve always loved telling stories through videography and photography and felt like I finally found my niche. My first post on my current account was on October 13, 2024 from one of my many State Fair of Texas visits. Since then, I have grown the account to over 2,500 followers and have had incredible opportunities to collaborate with several DFW restaurants, coffee shops, art studios, museums, gyms, and other hidden gems. It has been a blessing to be on social media again and meet so many great people. I am passionate about attending brand events where I am able to learn more about local small businesses and how they got started. A few of my videos have gone viral so I normally gain new followers through that, through word of mouth, and through networking. Everyone in the content creator world is super supportive and I’m excited to see where it takes me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall the road has been pretty smooth. The hardest challenge is balancing a full-time job as well as all my other extracurricular activities including Kat’s Adventures. I am currently training for the BMW Dallas Marathon, several pickleball tournaments, and just completed a fall sand volleyball league. I’ve tried to prioritize my marathon training and had to cut back on collaborations. Thankfully the marathon is in December, so after that I should have more free time for more adventures!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a content creator/influencer/foodie. I named the account Kat’s Adventures because it’s a place for me to document all the fun things I do on a daily basis. I accidentally became a foodie and have really enjoyed that part of getting to go to all these amazing local restaurants and cafes.
I mostly specialize in food, however I am gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, and do not drink alcohol so given all my restrictions it can be hard to be a foodie sometimes. I try to bring a plus one to all food collabs so we can try all the things and have different perspectives. I am also passionate about living a healthy lifestyle so I try to do a lot of fitness related collaborations that include promoting cool spots to play pickleball, new gyms, or fun workout classes.
I am most proud of my collaboration with Arcadia Earth and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. I went to the Jane & John Justin Foundation Omni Theater to see their LED dome playing the film A Vision for Tomorrow. I had never experienced anything like it and loved being able to meet the director of the film and ask him questions. He asked us to promote the film on our pages so I worked on my video and Arcadia Earth ended up promoting it and it went viral. It is my most viewed video and I enjoyed editing the clips together. I added some humor to the video and played into relevant trends so that really set the video apart.
In general, I try to have a consistent look and feel in all my videos so people can identify my work. I really only focus on Instagram, but am particular on how my feed looks so some may notice I try to have 3 photos or videos in a row that are part of the same theme. I also usually include a clip of me spinning or throwing my arm up in my signature pose so people can recognize my face. Additionally, I am a believer in Christ so I am selective with the collaborations I accept and brands I work with. At the end of the day, I want others to know that Jesus loves them. I aim to glorify God through my page and all that I do, just as it says in my favorite Bible verse: 1 Corinthians 10:31.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is one of our family trips to the Big Island in Hawaii. The hotel we stayed at has a few water slides at the pool that I would go down every day with my mom, my dad, and my brother while staying at the resort. The hotel pool also has volleyball nets so I played pool volleyball with my family and other hotel guests. The resort always has several excursions to choose from and another one of my favorites is watching the hula dancers because they are so talented!
Some of my favorite memories out of the resort with my family include heading to the local Big Island beaches to ride the waves on my bodyboard. We will typically go snorkeling, swim with dolphins, or manta rays while there. My mom and I also enjoy shopping so we will go shopping for souvenirs including my personal favorites, dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts. I always come home with a few boxes to hand out to friends and family. One of my favorite Disney movies is Lilo and Stitch so visiting Hawaii with my family will always hold a special place in my heart!
