Story & Lesson Highlights with Eduardo Cardoso of dallas

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Eduardo Cardoso. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Eduardo , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My family: my two girls are amazing. Any time with them brings me so much joy and laughter, at the end of the day I wanna be the best dad ever for them

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey readers,

My name is Eduardo Jesus Cardoso

and i’ll share what I rarely do in a human conversation, but i’ll talk all about myself and all my accolades starting with the best job i’ve ever had

I served in the Marine Corps, 2 combat deployments. best job I ever hard. Despite the challenges I faced there it lacks in comparison to the hard work my family and ancestors have done for me

My family comes from San Luis Potosí, and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for their courage, bravery, tenacity, and love.

My family’s encouragement, and love for Jesus Christ is my cornerstone, and due to that i’ve accomplished every single professional career goal i’ve ever made

With all that, im at a point of my career where I don’t really care for labels, I care about the process and the journey

For the sake of this interview, I will say. i’m an actor, filmmaker, producer.

All the stress and chaos of filmmaking is where I thrive, because getting to tell a story that changes lives, and makes people feel seen, that’s what it’s about

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
wow…

powerful questions

so I climbed a giant corporate ladder once, and when I was up there, living in my penthouse, spending more money than I could ever spend, and being wined and dined daily, something happened

well…something didn’t happen

I thought that if I could get to that point in my life, I would feel happy, complete, and I guess powerful

but i didn’t…I felt empty, empty also doesn’t begin to fill the void of the emotion I felt

i’m sure at some point in my childhood, I can say I felt powerful racing my grandpa, or jumping on my trampoline, or watching wwe (professional wrestling) and pretending to be Dwayne The Rock Johnson, but I wanna go deeper

I say all this, to the listener chasing goals, awards, attention, vitality. money, women, cars,

the top doesn’t feel like what you think it does, at least it didn’t for me

what made me feel powerful, was accepting I was powerless, and that’s where God, Jesus Christ came into my life on a new level

2 Corinthians 12:9: “He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
In the Marine Corps they have sayings for this, and a lot of my resilience comes from my time there. The Marine Corps infantry says things like

“embrace the suck”

“pain is weakness leaving the body”

“one foot in front of the other”

they’re all true, and have helped me endure, but one thing that’s helped me in recent years is something Greg sims told me

Greg Sims: acting coach, mindset coach, and and actor, said “if you don’t fail, you don’t learn”

which took away the fear of failure. Failure is part of the process, and if you aren’t failing, you probably aren’t putting yourself out there enough, or on a level that’s challenging you enough

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
hahaha yes….

I can be king of a “meanie” or “dramatic” at times

I’ve always been this way, ask my mom

She will also tell you i’m a sweetheart, that I love my peace, video games, food, and movies. I think that’s pretty much what anyone who’s ever met me would say

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I’d love to take filmmaking and art to the kids. I grew up in Oak Cliff Texas, and I rarely if ever heard about art, and filmmaking.

Just imagine a world where lower income kids could have access to art the way we do as adults.

It would be so amazing to run camps for kids, a YMCA for filmmaking, writing, directing, acting,

Art has been so healing in my life, and I want that for kids who struggle on a day to day. Self expression is so important.

I’m a very active person too, so a community of filmmakers for kids, and getting them outside doing things, making films, and telling their stories, would be powerful

Kids are the future, and i’d love to be apart of that
