Today we’d like to introduce you to Dusty Walker.
Hi Dusty, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Dusty Walker, the owner of Walker’s Crazy Lil Farm in Mineral Wells, Texas a place that started with one bottle baby and has grown into a community of animals, families, and unforgettable experiences.
My journey into the farm world wasn’t something I planned on paper. It began with a simple love for animals and a passion for creating joy for kids and families. What started as a small, personal hobby quickly turned into something bigger when people began asking if they could visit, interact, or bring the animals to their events. I realized that animals had a way of opening hearts, sparking curiosity, and bringing people together and I wanted to build something that made that feeling accessible to everyone.
From there, Walker’s Crazy Lil Farm grew piece by piece. We added more animals, built hands-on programs, created mobile experiences, and developed educational encounters that could serve schools, festivals, senior homes, photography events, and families all over North Texas.
Along the way, my daughter lovingly known as Sassafras and my husband Corey became an important part of the journey. Whether she’s bottle-feeding a baby goat or helping at events as the “Head CEO,” Vivian brings personality to everything we do. Corey supports every crazy idea and helps make our behind-the-scenes work possible.
The farm has grown into more than a business it’s become a community hub full of learning, laughter, and connection. From Highland cows and kangaroos to lemurs, goats, and bunnies, every animal has a purpose here, and every visitor leaves with a smile (and likely some animal hair on them!).
Today, we operate mobile petting zoos, educational animal encounters, themed holiday events, and unique photography opportunities. We’ve partnered with local businesses, schools, and organizations, and our animals have become familiar faces all over Mineral Wells and beyond.
We’re still learning, still growing, and still adding new ideas but the heart of the farm remains the same: creating genuine moments of joy through animals and building a space where families feel connected, welcomed, and a little bit crazy in the best way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all but every bump has shaped who we are today.
Running a farm, especially one that brings animals out into the community, comes with its own unique set of challenges. One of the biggest struggles has been learning everything as we go. There’s no handbook that tells you how to raise a Highland cow, transport a kangaroo safely, bottle-feed a goat at 3 AM, navigate local regulations, build policies, and run a business all at the same time. It’s been a constant mix of trial, error, and determination.
Balancing family life with farm life has also been a challenge. My daughter, Sassafras, is a huge part of our story, but being a mom, a business owner, and the primary caretaker of so many animals means some days feel like organized chaos and some days it’s just plain chaos. But we embrace it, because it’s part of the magic.
Another struggle has been growing faster than we ever expected. As demand increased, we had to quickly create systems, build partnerships, write policies and procedures, train volunteers, and make sure we stayed fully insured and professional while also staying true to the heart of what we do.
And of course, like many small businesses, financial hurdles pop up. Vet bills, fencing, feed costs, emergencies, equipment, and special-needs animals can add up quickly. We’ve had to be resourceful, creative, and transparent with our community.
But the hardest moments have also been the most defining ones. Every challenge pushed us to get better, grow smarter, and build something real, sustainable, and meaningful.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth but it’s been worth it. Every struggle has shaped the farm into what it is today and has made us stronger, more resilient, and even more committed to creating unforgettable experiences for the families and communities we serve.
As you know, we’re big fans of Walkers Crazy Lil Farm LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Walker’s Crazy Lil Farm is a family-run mobile farm experience based in Mineral Wells, Texas, bringing hands-on animal encounters to families, schools, festivals, nursing homes, and community events all across North Texas. We specialize in creating joyful, educational, and memorable moments with a wide range of animals from goats, sheep, and bunnies all the way to unique exotics like lemurs, a kangaroo, and Ruby the Highland cow, who has become a bit of a local celebrity.
What we’re truly known for is the heart behind what we do. We aren’t just a mobile petting zoo; we create experiences that feel personal, safe, and meaningful. Every animal is carefully chosen for temperament, socialization, and guest interaction. Our handlers are trained to not only assist with safety but also to teach, connect, and make kids feel confident around animals. It’s more than a photo op it’s an opportunity to learn, touch, laugh, and experience the magic that animals naturally bring.
What sets us apart?
A few things:
• Family-driven mission: Our daughter, lovingly called Sassafras, is part of everything we do. Families instantly connect with the authenticity of our story and the real-life farm moments we share.
• High standard of animal care: Every animal on our farm has a name, a personality, and a purpose. We pride ourselves on their health, safety, enrichment, and well-being.
• Professionalism + heart: We are fully insured, operate with clear policies, volunteer programs, and procedures, and are known for being reliable, clean, and prepared — while still keeping the fun, whimsical “Crazy Lil Farm” personality.
• Unique animals and themed events: From Highland cow VIP encounters to holiday angels, school programs, photography minis, and custom critter spotlights, we offer experiences you truly can’t find anywhere else in our area.
• Community connection: We partner with local businesses, schools, events, and photographers, and we love giving back through sponsorships, volunteering, and collaborations.
What are we most proud of brand-wise?
Our brand has grown into something incredibly special. We’re proud that people recognize our green logo, our tagline “Where Crazy Meets Family,” and the joy our animals bring. We’ve built a brand that feels warm, welcoming, colorful, and genuine something that represents real families, real animals, and real moments. One of our proudest moments is seeing kids light up when they spot our farm truck or Ruby’s face on a banner. It means our brand is connecting exactly the way we hoped it would.
What do we want readers to know?
That our services are for everyone families, kids, adults, schools, care facilities, photographers, and event planners. We offer mobile petting zoos, school encounters, critter spotlight visits, birthday events, photo experiences, seasonal programs, and custom animal appearances. No matter the occasion, our goal is always the same: to create safe, memorable, hands-on animal moments that people carry with them long after the event is over.
Most importantly, we want people to know that when they support our farm, they’re supporting a family, a dream, and a whole crazy lil’ community of animals who are loved beyond measure.
Any big plans?
The future of Walker’s Crazy Lil Farm is exciting and full of growth.
We are currently laying the groundwork to open our farm as an on-site destination beginning Christmas 2026, followed by our second major seasonal event Easter 2027. These will be immersive holiday experiences with themed setups, hands-on activities, and opportunities for families to make lifelong memories right here at the farm.
We’re also working toward additional licensing and expansions that will allow us to host larger groups, corporate events, special-needs programs, and therapeutic visits. Bringing more mental-health-focused opportunities especially for children, families navigating loss, or individuals needing emotional support is a major priority for us moving forward.
Beyond that, we plan to grow our animal family responsibly, add new interactive stations, improve our educational programming, and continue building partnerships with local businesses, schools, and organizations.
Every step we take is guided by our mission: to create a space where families feel connected, supported, welcomed, and understood and where animals bring out the very best in people. We’re looking forward to building a place that honors our daughter, supports our community, and gives Sassafras an incredible future to grow into.
