Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Green.
Hi Ty, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey everyone, my name is Ty Green, and I started Carrington Pickstock because of my grandad, Reginald. There was always something unique about him — the way he carried himself, the way he dressed, and how effortlessly he stood out without even trying. He had this quiet confidence and timeless sense of style that felt different from everyone else.
I started my clothing brand earlier this year to honor him and build something that could last — a true legacy for my family. My grandad’s presence shaped me in ways I didn’t fully understand until later in life. When I was a kid, I used to visit his house with my siblings, and I remember how his clothes always carried that familiar scent of a car mechanic shop. It made sense — we were always out in his garage, learning how to hammer nails into wood and build things with our hands.
He loved wearing old vintage hats, distressed shirts, and cargos. That was his everyday look rugged yet classic. As I look back at old photos of him, I realize just how unique his style really was. It wasn’t about trends or attention; it was simply who he was. Through Carrington Pickstock, I wanted to capture that same spirit his originality, his creativity, and his lasting influence and share it with the world. Carrington is my middle name and Pickstock is his last name and that’s how I created a name for my clothing Brand.
Carrington Pickstock is more than just a brand — it’s my way of keeping my grandad’s legacy alive and letting his story live on through every piece I create. Every design I make is a reminder of where I come from and a tribute to the man who inspired it all.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy. There were a lot of setbacks I had to go through, and honestly, I’m still going through them because I haven’t made it yet. But as you read this, I hope it helps you understand where clothing brands really come from. It’s expensive, it’s challenging, and it’s one of the hardest businesses to get into — especially when trying to build something meaningful. On top of that, business planning takes time, patience, and constant learning.
There were times when I had to shut down my website because I was getting zero sales and losing money. It was discouraging, but it also taught me a valuable lesson. I realized I wasn’t seeing results because I was trying to be like every other clothing brand — promoting and creating the same way they did. But if I wanted to be different, I had to think differently.
Now I understand that being unique means doing things my own way — creating clothes from my own vision, not someone else’s idea. The point is, I had to learn to trust myself, collect my own data, and stop relying so much on other people’s opinions. This journey isn’t easy, but it’s real — and that’s what makes it worth it. . I’ve fail multiples times but it’s what I do to get back and keep going that’s going to separate my brand from other brands.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Right now, I work a side job as a food runner and busser at a restaurant while continuing to build my clothing brand, Carrington Pickstock. It’s not easy balancing both, like I have shut down my website like 3 times in the last 2 months but I’m back and I’m in a better position to maintain my business, therefore I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to see my vision through. My brand is inspired by my late grandad, Reginald, and built around the idea of legacy — creating something timeless that can last for generations.
I specialize in designing clothing that blends old-money aesthetics with a modern streetwear edge. What I’m most proud of is staying true to my story. Every piece I create is personal — it reflects my roots, my struggles, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
What sets me apart is that I’m not just making clothes-I’m telling a story. I’m not following trends or copying what’s already out there. I’m building from my own experiences and creativity, doing things my way, even if it takes longer. My journey may still be in progress, but that’s what makes it real, and that’s what keeps me driven.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of the biggest risks I took was starting the brand in the first place. I didn’t have a blueprint, big investors, or a huge team — just a vision and the belief that I could build something meaningful from scratch. Dropping collections, investing in production, pushing new ideas, and putting my name behind designs all required me to bet on myself before anyone else would, But I gave up and then I tried again and gave up and why because I didn’t like being uncomfortable but I soon learned that growth doesn’t happen without pain/struggle.
Even now, every new release is a calculated risk. You’re guessing how people will respond, trusting your taste, and pushing the aesthetic forward even when it’s uncomfortable. But that’s where growth happens. I don’t take reckless risks, but I do now take intentional ones — the kind that force me to level up.
So whether I see myself as a ‘risk-taker’ or not, I definitely see risk as part of the process. If the idea scares me a little but excites me a lot, that’s usually how I know I’m moving in the right direction.
