Daily Inspiration: Meet Jazmine Perdomo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Perdomo.

Hi Jazmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I took a photography class in 2008 where I first learned the basics of photography. I purchased my first DSLR camera in 2009 where I did photography as a hobby and spent a few years just learning and photographing every day life. When I gave birth to my first son is 2017, I didn’t want to go back to work full time as I wanted to spend most of my time with my first baby but I also wanted to help with bills so I launched my part time photography gig, Perdomo Portraits in September of 2017 and held sessions on the weekends when my husband was home from work. But it was shortly after in March of 2018 that I had to go full force when my husband had an accident and lost a partial of his left leg. I then went full time to be able to provide for my family while my husband couldn’t work. Photography has always been my passion of mine so it was easy to go full time and I haven’t looked back since. Since starting, I have now been in business for 8 years and I have opened two photography studios, Perdomo Portraits Studio!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I want to say it’s been a fairly smooth ride being that I had so much passion in photography and I really wanted it. The hardest struggles a long the way was balancing life and work, while trying to make enough to pay the bills.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a portrait photographer and specialize in all lifestyle, family photography. I am mostly known for all family photography from newborn, to milestones such as birthdays and graduations to holidays and weddings. I honestly am so proud of how far I have come in my craft skills, professionalism and coming from working in my living room and bedrooms to a commercial space studio. I feel what makes me different from most is my true passion and love for what I do. I truly take pride in my work and I feel my customers can see that.

What matters most to you? Why?
At the end of the day, my name. When I launched Perdomo Portraits I never knew how big it would grow. I am the face of my company and I started it with love, continued it with passion and plan to leave it behind to my children one day. So when someone hears “Perdomo Portraits”, they see me. So it is so important when one hears Perdomo Portraits they automatically know, it’s a photography business built off of real love and passion.
