Today we’d like to introduce you to Mckenna Lewallen.
Hi Mckenna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Doing something with hair was always in the picture since I was little. I’m a third generation, so I was frequently found in my grandmother’s salon, and helping out color my mom’s hair. The passion only grew as I got older but the dream and vision didn’t truly settle until I was fully behind the chair. It started with unleashing my creativity to realizing the impact I have on hundreds of peoples lives. You realize you’re not only a service provider but you’re also a friend, an ear to listen when no one else will, someone’s biggest cheerleader, or even someone who looks to you for guidance. But the dream wasn’t always easy. Through doubt and fear I wasn’t sure if it was all possible. But from hours of dedication, and continuously striving for the impossible I’ve finally gotten to a position where I’m extremely proud of what I’ve done! I’ve realized that my skills and knowledge has made an impact on the community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been easy, you hit road blocks when you’re wanting to excel. You realize in this industry that you’re always replaceable, and there is always going to be someone better than you. Learning to be humble and grateful for what I’ve built for myself is what has slowly paved that smooth road. I’ve been able to do what other barbers have failed at, and listening to what the clients ask and why other barbers have failed to meet their expectations, is what has truly set me apart from others in this industry.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m McKenna, and I’m a barber. I specialize in all things hair. There isn’t a cut that I can’t deliver from tapers, mullets, and skin fades, to textured shags and wolf cuts. I’m most proud of my ability to specialize in all lengths and textures and service any client that sits in my chair. There is always a skill that a barber lacks, from shear work or working on multiple hair textures, and that’s what sets me apart from everyone else. I enjoy diving into my content creation to show case all my work, as well as demo tutorials for aspiring barbers. One thing in particular I strive we’re others fail, and it’s quite simple is the conversation. The ability to create an individualized experience for each and every person that sits in my chair. Each is different, but I’d like to say I’ve experienced quite a bit in which I’m able to create a different conversation and yet relatable conversation for each person. All in all I’m a local barber, with a dream of making it big!

Honestly the biggest support is word of mouth. Referring your friends and family to me, is better than any review.
