Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Cobb.
Hi Shannon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a life long musician singing for cover and original bands since I was 16. Ive had a couple of minor successful original bands. “Stompin Ground” based out of Baton Rouge 1997-2004. One album called “Two Weeks” available on all streaming platforms. And “Bullitt” based out of DFW. 2006-2010. Also an EP and several more songs available to download. And one music video.
I joined Metal Shop, an 80s hair band tribute, in 2010 and became a working full-time musician. Metal Shop plays all over Texas, Lousiana and more. This is still my primary working band, I started another fun era tribute band in 2017 called “That 70s Band”. This band plays the DFW area. In 2025 I began writing original music again with a very talented guitar player from Brazil and now a Texas resident, Guto Gibson. Our project is called “Blackstone Trail” and we have 4 songs available to download everywhere and continue to work on new stuff and will start playing shows this year with a full band.
I also started a production company in 2025 called “Jamnation Entertainment”, where I’ve formed and manage 2 other bands besides my own. “The One Hit Wonders”, a variety band specializing in all of the fun and popular “one hits” of every era and genre, and “Whiskey Girl”, a tribute the the iconic ladies of country music.

Information about all of my projects can be found here.
In 2026 I plan on starting at least one more working cover band and focusing on Blackstone Trail and our original music.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting, owning, operating a small business these days is always a struggle. Introducing new bands and finding consistent and “good” gigs for them can also be challenging. The cover band market in DFW is really strong but at the same time flooded with tribute bands.
On the original music front the main struggle is always time. Time to get together with your band, time to work on music alone, etc. There’s never enough hours in the day.
And, of course, money. It takes money to launch a band and make it successful.
I love what I do though so I accept these challenges as a blessing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Writing, releasing and performing “my” music is what will always be the most special to me. And it keeps me grounded.
I absolutely love my life and all of my cover bands are fun and it makes my job the best job in the world.
Im lucky to have played in front of thousands and have done this so long. And I cherish the opportunity to make people happy.
I will never take this for granted.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Im a huge nerd. I was raised by Spider-Man and The X Men, Strider and The Hobbits. The Vampire Lestat.
Literature taught me so much about everything. And still does to this day.
Ive been to Comic Con (the international one) in San Diego twice.
I have Anne Rice’s autograph tattooed on my shoulder.
